Ham, homemade mac&cheese, broccoli casserole, cranberry & orange salad, grilled pineapple, homemade bread and of course Christmas cookies !

We're having a Christmas eve dinner tomorrow.... pizza.
Well, it's actually called a pizza and steak house. None of us have been there but it is one place that is open til 5pm.
So tomorrow is my main family get together. The kids and grand kids are a bit scattered around and we're meeting in
a town that won't be so far for everyone to drive to. I don't know what they'll want to eat. I imagine the grand kids will want pizza...we probably will all eat pizza.

Christmas day, I am baking a ham, sweet potato casserole, rolls, potato salad, whipped potatoes, cranberry sauce roll, green beans. Also, I made peanut butter fudge and chocolate fudge....and I have made cookies plus a double layer pineapple upside down cake. I usually make mac and cheese because the grand kids like it...something about those noodles, ya know. We're tater people over here.

I sure am hungry!

Broccoli casserole is one of my favorites also.

A pizza party is always a good idea !

We will be going to a dinner party with close friends tomorrow evening, not sure what's on the menu. Which reminds me, I need to pick up a bottle of wine for the hosts tomorrow evening.

Our family's are pretty scattered as well. My wife has a sister who lives in Indiana, a brother who lives in Florida and we live in the Charleston South Carolina area, we all got together for thanks giving and will be spending Christmas with my parents and sister who live about two hours south of us in Hilton Head South Carolina. My dad is the cook on my side of the family and my mom bakes great cookies The menu I listed above is dishes my dad always makes but I'm sure he will add one or two others.

Some of the ham and cheese is made sandwich for some snacks..

Hams are fried with bread and cheese crumbs for dinner.. The cheese is added everywhere like in the salad, chicken and other menu..

bpizor, I was born and grew up in Indiana. I lived in Florida for a year, back in 2000 I think it was, been to Hilton Head too.
Also have friends in North Carolina, not far from Wilmington. He's a nuclear engineer and she's a teacher. They're originally from the Chicago area too (Indiana), we all grew up together, same neighborhood, same block. One of their children bought 6 Chicago deep dish pizza's and brought to North Carolina. I guess they froze them. That's what their having for Christmas eve today also, pizza.

Small world Valerie. All though I was born and grew up in the Pittsburgh, PA area ( well about an hour north of Pittsburgh in a little borough called Evans City), my wife, all though not born and raised in Indiana, lived a big portion of her life in Indiana and attended college at IU and as I mentioned prior, still has family in the Greenwood/Franklin area.

I have had the opportunity to dine at a few restaurants that make great Chicago style pizza when I lived up north but since moving to South Carolina about four years ago I haven't come across a really good Chicago style pizza place but I will have to make mental note to check local restaurant reviews and see what my efforts will find me

I had a good day. Most everyone ate something different. Most the kids ate pizza. I had shrimp. My son had country steak. I think my son-in-law had steak. They had long tables and pushed two together to make room for us all. It was nice and the restaurant was decorated, Christmas tree and all, so we had the Christmas spirit going. Most of them I had not seen in some time and it's always mind blowing to see how fast the grand kids grow in a relatively short period of time.

The weather was pretty nice also. Bright sunny day, in the low 50's. A tad chilly but I'm not complaining, no rain, no snow, a nice day for a drive too.

I was up in Northern Indiana, by Gary, Calumet City, Highland, etc. Went to grade school with Michael Jackson's cousin.

Got to enjoy with my family home-cooked BBQ chicken ( marinated for more than a day with pineapple juice and bits, garlic, Sprite, pepper and calamansi ), Mechado ( braised beef in thick sauce with potatoes and red bell pepper ), spaghetti, fruit salad ( with fresh shredded coconut from the many vendors in the wet market -- at Php25/coconut -- that's the juice and meat, was really worth it ), got liters worth of soda ( Coke, Sprite and root beer ) and ice tea at hand, leche flan ( basically custard prepared in small oblong aluminum pans ) and bibingka ( sweet glutenous rice cakes served on a open-faced bamboo plate, or bilao, topped with sweetened desiccated coconut ) as well got store-bought a KFC Party Package ( original recipe ), pork BBQs and loaves of Pan-a-cup Tasty bread

My Christmas dinner sounds very boring compared to yours oberder. Wow, all kinds of foods. Makes me wonder what all that food taste like. I love coconut, I'd probably enjoy those coconut dishes.

Here we had today, baked ham, green beans, whipped potatoes, potato salad, dressing, rolls.
We also have pineapple upside down cake, peanut butter fudge and chocolate fudge, and cookies.

When food's prepared with love and effort, even a simple chicken adobo, tuyo ( air-dried salted fish ) with sliced tomatoes and salted eggs, laid on a serving of freshly cooked rice over banana leaves ( one of the simple fares I've enjoyed in rural provinces when I was young ) it's that get-together that counts ( not to mention when some of your relatives expect you to have a bottle or two of San Miguel Beer or Red Horse... so much beer *moan* )

I am completely agree with you. Because of the family there is no food, money, gifts or so on. I gave up when see children eye..
