Report system is NOT a communication system

Take note that the 'Report' option is not a form of communication to the poster. In fact, the poster never sees it. Only mods and admins see it.

The report is used to report a post that is not following the forums rules. When you 'report' a member, that is what you are doing...reporting that the poster did not follow the rules.

Clicking 'report' to say 'thank you' 'you are wonderful' 'i love you' 'tell me how to get a million referrals' will never be seen by the poster. In essence, you are reporting that member to the moderators and the administration for making a post against the rules.

You could be banned from the forum for continuously using the report system when there is no real cause to do so.

I think the Report Button should stand out a bit more, Because less experienced members could click on "Report" instead of "Quote".

Well, not sure we have noticed an issue with someone posting a quote using the report button.

What we do find often is members clicking the 'report' button thinking it is a way to communicate
directly to that particular member's posting. Not real sure why that is.

A member might post their payout and the next thing you know, someone has reported it and their
reported comment is 'good payout'.

When one uses the report button, it is to report the member for foul language, advertising, links,
or some such as that, that goes against the forums rules.

I think maybe it should be two word 'Report Abuse'. Something like that.

I think it due to most forums reply first button. Report starts wirth R they see R and think it button to reply. So better solution to add a new reply button put first. Or relabel the report to something else. "Notify Mod" could work.
