Anyone use Linux? What distro?

I have an old computer with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx on it. Saved the thing from the trash. I run GomezPEER on it using Wine.


Forgot to mention (slipped my mind) that I also have Ubuntu installed on and Acer Aspire with 256 meg of memory ... and it is sort of functional.

Yes. It took a year for them to activate me, but since then it has been fairly steady. I have three computers in my house that run the PEER software. At first, after being made active, it took a couple months to make the minimum for payout. Now I make the min every month plus a little (hope I didn't just jinx that).

I think they were bought out and now have someone new running things. Could be very wrong there.

I installed Slack on a system many years ago in the Dos 5 and 6 era. No graphic interface back then ... unless you counted that "X" thing that kept messing up (probably my fault). How do you install Slackware now? I looked at it before deciding on Ubuntu, but the documentation wasn't very good ... or I just wasn't understanding it.

I like Ubuntu, but it seems like they have a lot of updates.

This is Zorin OS . I was also against LINUX on the beginning but If you use Linux for a while you will love it.

Zorin seems to be based on Ubuntu. Looks like Gnome desktop with some mods to look more like Windows. Maybe it has a version of wine to handle the Windows programs pre installed.

I agree that once one has tried Linux in whatever distribution and gotten use to it, they will probably like it. I still use Windows 7 for my main system, but that is what came with it. IF I ever have to buy a new computer, I intend to have no OS on it at all. I'll install what I want ... and that will be some distro of Linux.
