Guess This Song

Locked

#1 by valerie » Sat Mar 17, 2012 13:19

This is the 'Guess This Song' thread. Post a few sentences from a song, and see if other's can guess it.

I'll go first.

"On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.

Ah, Ah....

So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins,

For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing."

Immigrant Song? :D

my turn.

"Let 'em say we're crazy, I don't care about that
Put your hand in my hand baby
Don't ever look back
Let the world around us just fall apart
Baby we can make it if we're heart to heart"

Yes you are correct. Led Zepplin.

I had no idea what yours is so I looked it up:

Samantha Fox- Nothing's gonna stop me now

I don't think I ever heard of her before. I would have never guessed it on my own.

Here is a great one for you all!! I am looking for the one who wrote and sang this song originally!!

My son turned ten just the other day
He said "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on lets play
can you teach me to throw?" I said, "Not today,
I got a lot to do" He said "Thats okay"
And then he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said "I’m gonna be like him, yeah
You know I’m going to be like him"

That's gotta be 'Cat Stevens' song 'Cats in the Cradle'.

I remember when it came out back in the ..... early 70's I guess.

The song is about procrastination and how we let time slip away...but especially about how we
allow the important things in life, to slip away. The father works and never takes the time out to
enjoy his son or do any activities with him. Dad keeps telling him that he'll make it next time.
Finally the son grows up....to be just like his dad. Only the tables are now turned. Now the dad
keeps asking when his son will come to visit, and the son keeps saying...we'll get together soon...
which of course, never really happens.

Yep thats the song but the original writer and singer of the song was Harry Chapin from the album Verities & Balderdash. It was based on a poem written by his wife. I always thought it was Cat Stevens to until looking it up one day after being told that I was wrong...lol!

Yes it is Harry Chapin that did it. Not too sure why I said Cat Stevens. I think maybe because
I never listened to Harry Chapin. I did listen to Cat Stevens.

Oh, take your time don't live too fast
Troubles will come and they will pass
Go find a woman you'll find love
And don't forget son there is someone up above

That is none other than Lynard Skynard!

I believe that is 'Simple Man'.
