What toys and games did you have as a child?

Seems strange to me to call them old fashion.

I was looking for something at amazon today when to my surprise, I came across something I entirely forgot about having as a kid. It's a metal potholder loom. I can remember having a red one (i think they were all red). The thing was actually a bit heavy. It was made from a durable metal. You could loop yard and make square pot holders. I thought it would be fun to list some toys that we played with as a child and many of the ones I played with, were in fact, invented in my day...some still popular today

-Jump rope
-Barbie dolls
-Mr Potato Head
-Scrabble
-Twister
-kick the can
-hide n seek
-spin the bottle (yuk)
-old maid and fish (cards)
-skate boards (invented in my day, by the way)
-Sketch it (sand)
-Easy Baker Oven (made terrible food by the way)
-roller skates and ice skates
-Slinky
-Doll house
-Gumby
-Ball and Paddle
-Clackers (no one could ever do this, clacking two balls together and almost all of us had black eyes from it)
-Comic Books (not a toy per se but they were a big part of my childhood, I had thousands of them)
-Clay, Paints, Crayons, Coloring Books, Coloring Pencils, Silly Putty

No doubt there is a lot more. Not to mention more activities like riding bikes.

I think that's why there was few fat kids in my day. Really. There were very few chubby kids and the ones that were chubby, so was their parents...mainly a gene trait.

What toys did you have when you were a kid?

Well I played with pots and pans a lot lol !   I started cooking my breakfast at a very young age.

Otherwise, hmmm, your standard toys I guess, trucks, cars, racing tracks / train / cars, ahhh yes how can I forget this litebright type of game with the colored lights, I liked that one ! :D

console games, who can forget good old pong / atari coleco vision etc....

You've mentioned a few, crayons, books, draw from point to point books, oh yeah......I had that game I forgot the name, you had to use small clips to remove tiny thingies without touching the metal contacts, sort of like a surgeon thingy, it buzzed when you touched the contacts......I'm sure i'm forgetting some popular ones, but I mostly stopped playing with toys at a young age and ten started using computers. :D

I remember the light brite thingie too. I did not have one but a friend neighbor did.
I didn't have that surgery game thing either but that same friend had it. Operation! That was the name of the surgery game that buzz's when you tough anything you're not suppose to touch.

 If toys... I can remember:

Lego
Game and Watch ( the one titled "Octopus" )
Tonka bulldozer ( yes, made out of metal then -- no aluminum parts )
GI Joe action figurine ( Snake Eyes )
Assortments of plastic toys that came free in snacks ( i.e. Jack & Jill Pretzels, Nuts & Pops )
Yo-yos ( I love the ones that Coca-Cola offered then, then I lost it )
Sumpak or a small bamboo cut into two parts; one large part is hollowed out and served as the barrel, while a smaller one had a barbecue stick which acts as the launcher -- a wet piece of paper served as the 'bullet'. It was fun hearing the loud 'pop'!

If games...
Taguan or Hide & Seek ( especially at night or when blackouts occur )
Baril-barilan or playing with toy guns ( wooden or water guns, of course )
Spin the bottle
Habulan
or Tag

And of course, the video games of the day -- slot machines that ran on the old P1 coins ( Marcos era coins )

Oh yeah..... yoyo's.

Also, kites. We use to fly a lot of kites when I was a kid and weather permitted.

And remember this one..... pick up sticks.

Matchbox -- can't forget that! Now those were really great toys; real die-cast, not like the plastic toys today -- and collected a good set back in the days :D ( I loved the aircraft collection sets )

Comics, can't enjoy a day without that too  ( DC, Marvel, independent titles )
