Anyone downloaded Mountain Lion?

The coupon printer install automatically came up when I was at the walmart coupon printer page.
I guess with this upgrade, they fixed it. There was a popup on the page that stated OS X so that
is cool. I did the install and it works.

My printer is working fine too. I don't know if it was from the upgrade or due to the dsl people fixing
the remote at the connector down the road.

I can say the upgrade was worth it to me. It obviously upgraded with the major coupon printer softwares
out there. I'm not a big coupon clipper but there are times when I see a good one that I will use. Can't
use it if you can't print it out.

Oh I figured out, sort of, what that drop column was I was seeing at the apple site in video images.
It's the line symbols up the top right corner, when I click it, it moves the desktop over to the left and
says 'No Notifications' in an empty column to the right. Guess I am going to have to activate something
if I want that to appear.

Growl....well I don't know. I've got the bear claw symbol up there and I use to get a constant 'update growl' that drove me nuts and I think I turned all that off. Not to mention people coming and going thru chat rooms and with speakers on, that drove me nuts too.

Glad that Mountain Lion seems to have solved a few problems for you. But, I don't see anything worth in it to shell out $20 for an upgrade. Lion was much better for me.

As for that three lines on the top right hand corner, its the Notification Center. Just go to the System Preferences to customize it. Again its pretty much useless for me.

Growl is one of my favorite apps. Its great to get notifications from other programs without intruding my work.
Try and see if you like it.
If still you don't like it, then you can uninstall it. Here is the guide : Growl - Removing Growl

And I just realized another cool feature Apple removed. On Mountain Lion the menu bar only shows the battery percentage remaining. On Lion it used to show both - time and % remaining.
And I read that its not coming back
>> Mountain Lion is coming, what should you know that you don’t yet know?

All in all Mountain Lion is a big let down for me.

Guess what?

My printer works fine now and 'coupon printer' software now works.

However, the scanner is gone!

I have a wireless all in one printer. I've never hooked up the fax with it but everything worked great...in
the beginning. With the updates that have been going on with apple, my printer stopped working. It took
me hours to locate drivers for it at apple. I probably have a ton of printer drivers on this mac that is doing
nothing but taking up space. Finally there was some updates and the printer worked.

Now with this upgrade, the printer does work fine but the scanner does not work! I read someone else
has the same problem, their scanner disappeared.

Not only has the scanner disappeared, I can't find the settings at all on my mac for it. It's totally gone!

I think they should be paying us not the other way around.

I've had growl on here for a long time but perhaps never realized what it's purpose really is. I'll have to
check it out further.

I was able to do some update installs for the scanner on my printer.
Took me forever to figure it out, it seemed. I was searching for 'Scanner' and it's listed in my applications folder as 'Image Capture'.

Now, I'm going to check out growl further and see what I've been missing with it.

Sorry for my absence Valerie.
I had sent my MacBook to the service center to get that internal mic fixed. Took them 5 days as they don't have a single part in stock. Worst part is that they kept my laptop for those 5 days while the part was shipped. :x

Yes, check out Growl and let me know if you need help.

I don't think I am real interested in growl. I do have it and put my green bird back on the desk top too.

Only thing is, the growl icon does not display on my desktop bar but it does display it's black pawprint on the top bar.

Also I noticed there is a paid upgrade available. Looking at some of the images, I was confused because it displays
twitter. I'm wondering if the twitter is only available with the Growl upgraded version? The upgrade is less than
$3.

No, don't download the paid version. I think its v1.3
The paid one is totally crap. The free one (v1.2) is much better.
Just do a Google search for "Growl v1.2" and you'll find that MacUpdate or Cnet has the 1.2 version for download.

Growl is basically a notification center. It gives pop-ups when ever one of your background applications has some updates, finishes some work.

Examples :
There is an update for Firefox.
A download has been completed on Opera.
An add-on extension has an update or has been updated.
You have received an email.
CleanMyMac has finished cleaning your Mac.

If you are not interested in such notifications, then simply uninstall Growl.

That's what I can't figure out. It doesn't seem to do anything unless it's associated with my green bird.
How do you get the notifications in there?
And why don't I have a yellow paw print icon?

I'll look and see if I can figure out what version it is, I think I downloaded it almost two years ago.

1.2.1 is the version of growl I have.

Whats the green bird? Hearing it for the first time

Click the Paw icon on the top menu bar and click "open Growl Preferences". Or go to System Preferences and click on Growl.
Then you will see a screen like this.

Make sure "Hide all notificiations" is unchecked.

In the next tab which says "Applications" , you can choose which applications you want to receive notifications from. If you don't want notifications from any application, simply uncheck it.

In the next tab which says "Display Options" you can customize how you want to notifications to appear - the look, the time for which it should display, etc.
There is a preview button so adjust and customize it to whichever one you find good to look at.

The "Network" tab is for forwarding notifications to another computer and I don't need it. Never used it so can't help you out on that.

All set and done. Now sit and back and get notifications from programs running in the background without them intruding your work.

I was so satisfied with v1.2 that I purchased v1.3 from the AppStore for $1.99
But, v1.3 had all sorts of problems and didn't work with Opera which I use extensively. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled v1.2

So you see, its really easy to setup Growl :D

Looking at all the images, mine match.

But my problem is the same in that, I don't know how to get notifications in it. That's the screen you did
not display or tell me how to get it to do it. When I click the applications, there are 4 notifs listed and checked.

Kaspersky
Adium (green bird)
Growl Menu
Skype

That is all I see in the 'Applications' screen. I can't figure out how to put anything in the applications list.

In regards to display options, it doesn't matter what I choose, nothing changes.

Adium...yes now I remember that green bird. I had Adium installed for a long time but I never used it so I removed it.

You can't put applications in there because Growl does that automatically if it supports it.
Here are the list of applications which are supported by Growl - Growl - Applications

As for the display preview, it should show up when you click the Preview button. Try disabling it, restarting your computer and enabling it back to see if it works.
If not then you might have to uninstall and then re-install it again.

The issue I have had for a very long time, not with this update, is the videos stop working on everything until
I reboot. I don't hear or see anything. It's like the thing gets tired after a week.

I seriously need to do a search and think I will finally do that right now. Surely there must be others that have
this same issue.

I researched my issue and did not find any info of value to resolve it. It's not that big of a problem.
What I should be doing anyway, is turning my mac off when I go to bed and I wouldn't have the problem.

I've never used chrome. I may have to try that on my laptop or notebook. I have FireFox installed on my
pc's. But I don't use the pc's but rarely in regards to surfing the net.
