You collect something very worthy whether you realize how worthy or not.
My childhood friend, her father collected stamps. They were Polish people. My friend was an accident.
That was always her words, not mine. Her brother and sister were a lot older than her and her parents were
closer to my grandparents age. I guess that is the major reason my grandparents and her parents always got
along so wonderfully.
Anyway, as a kid, I would ride my bike to her house and her dad (almost never failed) would pull me to the side
and ask me if I had received any stamps. There were times I did in fact take him stamps. Back then, we had
pen pals and I wrote to someone in Germany and she would write back, I'd take her dad the envelope because
he told me not to remove the stamp myself.
Mind you, that was back in the 60's.
I want you to know, many years later, her father passed away and they sold his stamp collection.
They received almost a half a million dollars for his collection!
That's something I will never forget, none of it. Going to her house as a kid and her father showing me
the stamps. He would show me how to place a stamp in alcohol to see the markings on the back of the
stamp.
Anyway, don't ever let anyone tell you not to collect stamps or that you're wasting your time with it.
Because some day, your collection be worth a very big sum of money.
