 Sorry, but there seems to be not much updates ( important ones ) that I've spotted lately, in regards for browsers or add-ons/plug-ins as of this late yet

Though something to share: a little head's-up for those who have got the Microsoft Security updates for Feb2015 for mobile users; just got wind there seems to be an issue with those who installed KB2920732 for Powerpoint 2013 that caused their systems to lock for Surface and SurfaceRT users - a fix patch is being released to compensate for the affected update

:!: Tech News Head's up -- EFF ( Electronic Frontier Foundation ) has recently noted that Lenovo laptop users can have a security issues due to a software installed by the laptop manufacturer; according to the blog, the said program, Superfish, is a security certificate that provides Man-in-the-Middle ( MITM ) attacks, injects advertisement while the user is using HTTPS connections and can compromise accounts and passwords

Details of this can be seen in the provided link below:

Not related to any updaters for now; just checked on the many Tech Blogs that I read while waiting for ads/Tasks, I found this little tidbit that's worth keeping tabs on:

Quote:As of server time, perhaps even earlier -- the US FCC has voted 3-2 in favor for Net Neutrality

Quite important news, IMO, and a good one to mark the week ;)

:!: Head's up -- Multiple updates once more:

VideoLAN has now released VLC Media Player v2.2.0; the new update is available at most reputable downloading hubs and the publisher's dowloading section -- please do note that VideoLAN uses HTTPS at it's main site, to ensure that it is the legitimate home site since there are known cases that fraudulent and malicious copies of VLC have been distributed at 'mirror' sites ( they look like the publisher's site, but in fact are pseudo-sites )

Chronium
has released their new browser update, Chronium v43.0.2317.0; this is the fork of the Google Chrome browser -- it's now available at the main publisher's site, as well at selected downloading hubs

Ruiware ( formerly BillP Studios ) has released WinPatrol v33.1.2015.0; the new version is available at the main publisher's site, as well at reputable downloading hubs

TheDocumentFoundation has released LibreOffice Productivity Suite v4.4.1; the new update is available at the main publishers site, as well at reputable downloading hubs -- the portable version will soon follow

 Head's up -- MalwareBytes has now released MBAM ( MalwareBytes Anti-Malware ) v2.14.1018 -- the new update is available at the main publishers downloading hub and reputable support hubs

Chronium has released their new browser update; Chronium is now at v43.0.2339.0; this browser is based on the Google Chrome engine -- the update is now available at the main publisher's site and most reputable downloading hubs

And on a side-note, there's a bit of buzz going around in regards to the coming Microsoft Windows 10 -- according to Tech blogs, the release may come in the 2nd quarter of the year ( between August to September ), and that its confirmed that the update will be available for all Windows users from Win7 onwards as a free upgrade that will last for a duration of 1-year; though there's talk about any availability of a Live CD, or if the free upgrade will be applicable for users who acquired a copy of Windows 'differently' ( via Torrents ), and if there's going to be any issues in regards if the users want to downgrade back to previous Windows versions if not satisfied -- until then, keep tabs with your favorite tech sources and blogs

Head's up -- Piriform is now releasing CCleaner v5.04.5151 in Standard and Portable -- the Portable and Slim variants are available at the main publisher's downloading hub under Builds ( BTW: the CCleaner Slim installer is not bundled with a Google Chrome sub-installer, compared to the Standard installer; the Portable variant is intended for users that want to have it in theor USB as an On-the-go Program )

Pale Moon is now on v25.3.1 -- Pale Moon is a branch variant of Mozilla Firefox -- the installer is available at the main publisher and most reputable downloading hubs

Offhand: Microsoft had released a security update for the Windows Update labelled as kb3033929 -- unfortunately, this update isn't important; it's a program, stated in some blogs as an integral part IF you wish to prepare your gear to upgrading from your current version to the new Windows 10 -- but as records has noted that the said patch had issues of being a flawed install -- users reported that the patch reports an error on installation, and keeps re-downloading again and again

It would be necessary, to avoid the issue, is to right-click the patch and Hide it until there be a real fix confirmation -- best to keep tabs with reputable Tech Blogs and forums in regards to this

Head's up -- as of late, Microsoft has released kb3035583, which according to some tech sites a Windows update to enable additional capabilities for Windows Update Notifications for Win8.1a dn Win7-SP1 -- but this update is labeled as an Optional update

Though there has been no news or replies from other users in regards to issues seen ( yet ), a lot from these tech forums are replying that the best step of action is to Hide the said update until complete confirmation that it won't be another botched Windows Update

For those who have installed it ( if their Windows is set to download and install automatically ), please do notice any changes in your gear's functions -- should there be any issue, you may have to manually remove/uninstall the said Windows Update

 Sorry, just got late -- had time during the Holy Week out-of-town, so I kind of missed a few days of clicking

Anyways:

Head's up
-- In light of the new updates, Mozilla has released Firefox v37.0.1 which can be applied via the browser's update -- this will fix the issue that some users have in regards with graphics ( alternatively, one can disable this by pressing ALT+T to open the Tools, then go to Options, then go to Advanced, then look and uncheck the box to disable Use Hardware Acceleration when available" )

The Firefox offline installers, along with the regional dialect variants are available at the main publisher's site -- most reputable downloading hubs will be offering the EN-US version of Firefox
