:!: Just a minor head's up -- if you're using the Firefox browser, and you manually check for updates for your installed add-ons, some of these may have errors when upgrading to a new version

To get a fix for this inconvenience, visit the main Mozilla Firefox Add-on page, and do a search of your add-on installed -- and do the re-install from there

 Head's up -- for those who have installed Electronic Frontier Foundation HTTPS-Everywhere, the browser plug-in which is available for Firefox ( and Firefox for Android ), Chrome and Opera -- is now updated at the publisher's site

Now currently at v5.0.3 -- the HTTPS-Everywhere plug-in is currently not added to the Firefox Add-on site, but is safe to use from the main publisher's site:

**Note: please make sure that when visiting the publisher's site, the address bar should be in HTTPS

:!: Head's up -- For Windows Users -- Microsoft has recently released an Optional Update via Windows under kb3022345 -- but there's something to be cautious about this one; according to the Tech Blog from Infoworld, the said Optional update is causing issues on installation, giving a error 800F0922 ( Installation Failure ) message

Since there has been little information of the said Optional Update, some Tech blogs are recommending to Hide the said Optional Update until it will (eventually ) be fixed

 Heads-up -- The Document Foundation has now released LibreOffice Productivity Suite v4.4.3; the new version of is available at the main publisher's site for all OS types ( Windows, Mac, Linux ) -- most reputable downloading hubs will offer the Windows Installer

Offhand: Currently some downloading hubs are offering Beta variants such like Adobe Flash and Adobe AIR -- please do note that Beta products are intended for Debugging and Evaluation purposes, not for General Usage -- do not use any Beta programs unless you have a good amount of experience to handle issues that may arise, as well with dealing with uninstallation issues ( Beta programs are known to leave registry signatures, unlike Stable releases )

Head's up -- Adobe has now released new updates:

Flash Player v17.0.0.188 for IE and Non-IE browsers; the two new plug-ins are available as online installers for all OS at the main publisher's site, and most reputable downloading hubs will offer a redirect on downloading from their sites

Adobe AIR is now available at v17.0.0.172; this update is available as an online and offline installer at the main publishers site ( for those who need it as an offline installer, or for a different OS, make sure to click on the Need Adobe AIR for a different computer? click-line, then from the menu, just select the appropriate OS that you have and the variant installer version ) Most reputable downloading hubs will offer a redirection to the main publisher's site

---

Offhand: Make sure that once you download an offline installer, always scan it first with your updated anti-virus and anti-malware programs, and once you begin the process of installation -- Take it very slowly! Read everything, or you might end up installing PUPs ( Potentially Unwanted Programs ) There are already cases of popular, and well-known programs that are now bundled with PUP adware ( examples like OpenCandy ) and Browser redirection/hijacking ( examples like Ask Toolbar )

So when you're using offline installers -- create a System restore point first, then take it slow, and be careful
;)

---

EDIT UPDATE: There has been an Tech article in regards to McAfee Stinger -- a second-opinion scanner in regards to malware infection/detection -- the update comes with something users are not informed of: it was installing a Windows-like service into the system called the McAfee Validation Service, which proves very difficult to remove ( the update has now been considered with such 'malware-like' behavior that some reputable downloading hubs are now pulling it out of their depositories to ensure the safety of users )

The only way to remove the said program and it's unwanted additional component is to download the McAfee Removal Tool and completely remove the program ( note that when someone installs the new McAfee Stinger, it does not create a System Restore point -- something that could have helped if anyone wants it removed safely )

 Head's up -- Mozilla has now released Firefox v38.0; the new update installer for all regional language variants is currently available at the main publisher's site, while most reputable downloading hubs will be offering the EN-US Installer

The technical details about the new browser can be see below:
 Reference source -- Firefox — Notes (38.0) — Mozilla

And, courtesy of GHacks Tech blog, looks deep into the inner workings of what to expect with the new browser:

-----

Offhand Head's up -- for those who have Windows, and have set it on Automatic Update, it would be a good idea to inspect what you have; according to tech blogs, for the Microsoft Security Updates for May 2015, a particular update: kb3022345, installs a Service called the Diagnostics Tracking Service -- based on the database at Microsoft, there's little to vague description in regards to the said update; most tech blogs are recommending that if you have this update, start disabling it from your Services

A comprehensive step-by-step guide can be seen at the GHacks tech blog:

:!: Quick Head's up -- In view to the recent update, Mozilla quickly updated Firefox to v38.0.1; the patch update which draws to issues to some members having related technical issues are resolved; the update should be available via automatic/manual update through your browser's system, and offline installers are available at the main publisher's downloading hub

Technical details can be seen at:
 Reference source -- Firefox — Notes (38.0.1) — Mozilla

---

EDIT Update: Just of late, there seems to be a component that's present in Mozilla Firefox v38 onwards; checking with tech blogs, the Pocket feature in Firefox is a third-party 'Save-for-later' program ( unfortunately, this service is actually not needed as a whole )

Details of this can be seen at the Ghacks tech blog, along with a step-by-step guide on how to remove the feature; alternatively, you can install the Firefox Add-on Classic Theme Restorer v1.3.2 where, under the Advanced menu tab, scrool down and uncheck the Pocket feature

Thanks, SentinelOnyx

For members having issues, or just don't want the new features ( Pocket, Reader, Call, etc. ) found with the current Firefox browser, you can try this: go to the Mozilla Add-ons ( as seen at: Add-ons for Firefox ) and install the Classic Theme Restorer v1.3.2.1 -- after installing and a quick shutdown/restart of the browser, open the Add-on menu page by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+A -- then click on the add-on's option tab

Now inside the Option tab of the Classic Theme Restorer add-on, make your way to the Advanced tab click-menu and uncheck all the options there -- once these are all unchecked and you click on the OK button, allow the browser to restart to make the changes -- after a few moments, your Firefox browser will be working again, this time without the third-party added programs

:!: Not a software update to post, but something to keep tabs on:

As of late, Mozilla has announced their plans in regards to planned changes to Firefox, as seen at The Future of Developing Firefox Add-ons | Mozilla Add-ons Blog -- but these changes aren't taken lightly

As per Tech blog review at GHacks, as seen at Mozilla's self-destruct course continues: major add-on compatibility changes announced - gHacks Tech News -- highlighted the issues, pros an cons about the planned changes; this was even further reviewed on a new blog post, as seen at Reactions to Mozilla's announcement about upcoming Firefox add-on changes - gHacks Tech News

It comes as well to note that some Firefox Add-on publishers also showed dismay to the move; among those are from Federico Parodi and Stepano verna, the publishers of DownThemAll ( as seen at DownThemAll! » The likely end of DownThemAll? ) and Giorgio, Author/Publisher for NoScript ( as seen at hackademix.net » WebExtensions API & NoScript )

It's uncertain what will happen to Firefox, and the add-ons that have served it's very core that made the browser unique

I had a major spat with one of the original Netscape developers recently, and I left his project (which is completely different to, but kinda like a server-side spiritual successor to Netscape Communicator) because he's determined to run that into the ground too - by making exactly the same mistakes Netscape made.

Mozilla has a long history of strangling itself despite having superior tech, and this permeates with all it's past and present developers, in every project they're involved with.

 Head's up

Mozilla has now released Firefox v43.0.3 -- the patch update is available by manual/auto-update through your Firefox browser, and the offline installers ( along with local/regional translated variants ) are available only at the main publisher's downloading section

Most reputable downloading hubs will be offereing the EN-US offline installer

 Reference source: Firefox — Notes (40.0.3) — Mozilla

Other updates:

a) TheDocumentFoundation has released LibreOffice Productivity Suite v5.0.1 -- the new update is available at the main publisher's site; aside from the Windows installer, installers for Linux ( x64 and x86 ) as well for MacOS are available; for those that wish to have the Portable variant, it should be available soon

Most Downloading hubs will offer the Windows installer

b) Brightfort Studio ( previously Javacool ) has released new security signatures for SpywareBlaster v5.2 -- to date, there are now 17270 unique protection signatures added to the database; users should manually check for the update, while paid users will be able to get the updates automatically

 Thanks for the head's up, BouldRake -- I wasn't able to breeze through the DocumentFoundation's Forums in regards to the new release, so my bad on that part

I do know that LibreOffice Portable is now at 5.0.0 rev2 -- the portable version is available at the main publisher's site, and some reputable downloading hubs will offer the two variants: v5.0.0Rev2 and v5.0.0Rev2 All Languages ( the second portable variant is much bigger since it will be adding additional language packs )

 Head's up

With more than a week before Patch Tuesdays -- the official week where Microsoft releases security updates for all Windows users, they have released an Optional update -- KB3092627

The issue stemmed from users that had issues with errors leading from the Symantec End Point Protection Small Business Edition, so the update may depend if you have a product/gear that supports the related software ( In other words: if you don't have the said software in relation to Symanatec, don't install it since it's an optional component )

:!: Reference source -- Microsoft releases KB 3092627 to fix bad Windows patch MS15-084/KB 3076895 | InfoWorld

**Side-note: On the related Tech blog reference link, scrool down and look for the link that labeled by the author as Answers Forum Post, since it couldn't be linked properly -- it is almost 4pages long so the issue is ongoing for some users
