Mini IPAD

Anyone going for the mini ipad besides me?

I don't have an ipad and have thought about one for several years. Now that they have come out with the
mini ipad, I'm going to get it. I do like the idea of the size because it will be handy to fit in my purse, yet I
think it's still a good enough size to utilize without being too small. Pre-order begins tomorrow Oct.26.

I've been wanting an iPad for awhile now. The price has always made me hesitant and I'm not too excited about the price for the iPad mini. Apple knows they can sell them for cheaper, but their pride causes their product prices to be fixed on what they want. They know that just because they are Apple, people will buy it. Well I want Apple to know that I have been looking at many name brands for tablets recently.

They are nice. You will enjoy it very much. The mini iPad seems more convenient to carry around with. I'm still not sure if I would want the normal size or the mini.

Size is everything :D The smaller they make those gadgets the worse their cameras get and the more fragile.

NEVER will I be caught with mini anything. I like my good 10.1 tablet, I mean if you are going to get a mini might as well get a smart phone :D

If you can handle squinting and ruining your eyes with small everything, then it's good but it ain't my cup of tea personally........ :D

I haven't thought about a tablet. My Samsung Galaxy has a 7' screen so it is already like hauling a mini-tablet around.

I have actually been thinking of trying something new to fix that. I have an iPod Touch 5G with a great camera, but it only works on wifi. There is a new device called FreedomPop that lets you turn it into a VoIP/data phone for free.

Just imagine, no more data or voice plan payments. If you go over 500MB it is only $10 per Gig. If it was just available in my area! :(

I thought about doing that a year ago. I have the IPOD Touch 4. Instead, I bought a Samsung Tracfone Smart Phone. I like it because I get triple minutes whenever I purchase minutes, there is no monthly bills, it has wifi, and actually functions and works about the same way an apple does.

Here's the jest of it for me in regards to the mini iPad....I have laptops and notebooks and the big 27 inch mac....plus an ipod. I don't use a cell phone much so there was and is no point in my paying a monthly fee for a cell phone.....which I did for many years pay verizon every month until I got smart and canceled it. If I want a ten inch screen, I can use my netbook.

I know the mini ipad does not have the retina display but I don't really care. I plan to check it out more today as I think today is the day we can order the mini.

I just purchased the mini iPad, Wi-Fi 32GB, and the smart cover. My total with tax (free ship) is $513.
The cover was $39 and I was hesitant to get it because I know I will eventually use something else for it.
Also, I am in a high sales tax state so tax for me was over $45.

In comparison to the IPad 4 with retina display, I'd probably been out a two to three hundred dollars more due to higher price but also due to more tax, etc.

I think I will like the mini ipad rather well. I like that it is large enough to comfortably see without being quite as large as the iPad so that it fits easier in normal size places.

I don't talk much so having a pre-paid plan on voice would be great, but I do use a lot of data being away from wifi for long periods. FreedomPop is going to be available next year when they use Sprint's 4G network. You can get 5GB for $35 which is more than enough to cover my usage for a month, maybe two when it is 6GB in all. I currently pay $69.99 for junk voice/text and unlimited data. I looked at Tracfones but it is too limiting. The perfect world is a pre-paid voice 4G iPhone 5 with a reasonable data plan. FreedomPop sounds like the answer, but if it sounds to good to be true...

I just watched the iPad Mini reveal, it looks awesome. If I had one it would need a data plan. AT&T has the best rate I would use at $30 for 3GB. I really wish I could turn it to VoIP but I don't have the knowledge to make a specific app for it. It makes my Galaxy Tab look like yesterdays garbage.

I don't use a cell phone much. I am at home most the time but of course, it's handy to have a cell phone when I am on the road. These days, a cell phone is pretty much necessary for everyone. I use my landline mostly. I paid about $75 per month to verizon over the past 8 years. That was fine at the time but as stated, I'm home most of the time and don't really use a cell phone much at all. It was stupid for me to continue paying a monthly fee for cell phone service. This tracphone functions like a smart phone. No minutes are subtracted for internet usage. I rarely use it but it is there if I need to.

The Mini Ipad WiFi 32GB, is $429.
I paid over $500 because I added the optional case and sales tax in Tennessee is almost 10%.

Apple is expensive and like most things today, charge a lot more than they should for their products.

I think I will really like the mini ipad. Everyone has their own reasons as to why they like, want, or need something.
The big turn on for me was the size being a tad smaller and the price being a tad less. I can easily carry the mini iPad around outside with me at home. I have 8 acres of property and I am outside a lot in the nice months. I can sync with my other apple products. Most people that I visit, have wifi so that is handy also for me. I may not have even needed the 32GB because I really don't plan on storing a lot on it.

I'll post back here in a couple of weeks after I receive it and let you know how I like it.

I just found a VoIP app on my iPod called iCall that is available on iPads. So if I get the mini with a 3GB data plan and use the iPhone mic headset it turns it into a phone with VoIP and data for only $30 a month. Now that is an idea!

Ya, I'm like you Eddie in that I like Apple a lot. Obviously a lot of people do.

I shop at amazon often and had considered the Kindle. However, I am a netflix member and I tried the amazon trial movie thing, and did not like it. Seems Amazon charges $79 a year PLUS anything that is worthy of watching cost per series or cost per movie or cost per season. I found that to be so odd. Why would anyone want to pay $79 a year and then also pay for each thing you want to watch.

By the way, DISH has made some sort of deal with AMC and they are back on Dish.....a new season or new episodes or some such of 'The Walking Dead' is on Sunday.

I heard on the news they sold out of the white mini ipad within 20 minutes. I did order the white so that could be true but for some reason, I kind of doubt it. Or perhaps they simply allot a certain number on pre-order day that they consider a sell out after a number is sold.

@valerie, Congrats on your purchase!! Lets see a pic when you get it and tell us how u like it..

@Armand2REP your paying $69.99... WOW, that is so HIGH.. I am paying $39.00 everything unlimited, I have 2 lines for the price and I pay $1.67 for the 3rd line, Yes I said $1.67, and I get 15% off my total bill for military discount. I have T-Mobile family plan. I have had this rate plan for the 1st 2 lines since 2009 and just for the 3rd line last month for home phone use..LOL If I needed it I could add a 4th line for the $1.67 as well.. Never had any probs with service or anything..

I just bought a laptop last week with the new windows 8, I just set it up last night, its cool so far.
