It appears there are MAJOR issues with Liberty Reserve, the site is closed and the founder arrested.

PLEASE SEE: Digital currency site Liberty Reserve shut down after arrest of Costa Rican owner in Spain / News Briefs / More news / Costa Rica Newspaper, The Tico Times to read about it!!

Do not make withdrawal requests to Liberty Reserve!!

I can confirm this is real and not hoax / rumors, through official contacts of mine and through checking local news media ! This news surfaced on official Costa Rican newspapers and in Spain.

I have a few links of the actual video taken from live news feed and newspaper articles from official channels
but apparently URLs are not allowed to be posted. I have sent those links to the admin.

Thank you for your confirmation, I did search the Internet to confirm before posting. I believe the only certain links are not allowed (e.g. spamming for new referrals on other programs), in a situation like this I'm sure links would be allowed to assist ClixSense members. Hopefully, ClixSense admin will make an official statement on this soon, so that all members are aware.

Well not taking chances, the no URL rule means no URL period - I won't post links as they probably will be edited out.

I saw the news TV report on video!

Now the news is REAL HOWEVER, nobody knows the fate of LR and what will happen with the money and accounts.
Whether it will be re-opened and run by a 3rd party, whether it will continue in its shape and form or not.
Anybody making claims to that or claiming to being able to recover your funds, is basically lies / scams as it is not reported through official channels yet.

There is BIG money at stake, which is why authorities intervened. We are not talking a few $ here but 9 figures allegedly.

I hope *HONEST* site owners who used LR will be able to recover their money ! but don't get your hopes up this can take a long time.

I contacted a few sites myself and some admins told me "oh we'll be just fine" Seems most site owners never left big amounts in their LR and only left bare minimum and exchanged out most of it........

The biggest losers here will be exchangers who kept 4 and 5 figures, and of course large and small HYIP investors.

Sucks to be you, but I know the feeling having been on that end of the stick before inuring big losses.

Hope CS will be able to recover whatever money they had in LR.

I heard a rumor ( I don't know if it is correct ) that ExchangeZone, an exchanger, is tied with LR. Surprisingly, the Name Servers for both of these sites has been changed to NS1.SINKHOLE.SHADOWSERVER.ORG and NS2.SINKHOLE.SHADOWSERVER.ORG on the same day (24-May-2013). I also heard that these nameservers are used by FBI (or other Federal authorities) to null route the sites that are seized by them!!

It's a shame. Not that they nailed the guy, kiddie stuff is as low as it gets. But for those who had money in LR. How long did it take e-Gold account holders to be able to file for refunds? Close to 3 years?

The info on the LR owner was out for some time, actually. He operated another payment processor without a license from within the US that was taken out in I believe 2005 or 2006, but only for operating without a license rather than money laundering and other felony activities.

It was still a felony conviction but he only had that site shut down and was given probation, the New York State prosecutors were tied up with investigating Wall Street at the time and he was too small to pursue aggressively with limited resources. LR was not affected, as it is a separate business from the one he was previously convicted of running in a criminal manner. But it was only a matter of time. The guy was infamous in certain circles as a purveyor of kiddie smut and other dubious underworld delights. I'm actually surprised human trafficking wasn't mentioned.

I'm not familiar with Spanish laws on the matter, but do NOT fall for any scams offering bogus LR refunds! Under US law those funds will be seized, and LR account holders may or may not be given an opportunity down the road and after a full investigation by all three countries involved to file for partial refunds....and then only with strict guidelines for documentation supplied to a receiver. The whole point of taking out the payment processor used to launder the funds is to disrupt the cartel, so any individuals or businesses who are victims of this guy and have an opportunity to claim a refund will have to provide thorough documentation of their identity and other information. No third party, individual or business not appointed by the court will be able to have access to these funds, never, none, not under any circumstances. Don't get fooled!

Thank you 'cutestlink' ;)

I am slightly surprised to have not heard anything from ClixSense admin regarding this, has been a few days now and a lot of money is at stake. Although, they have removed Liberty Reserve as a 'cashout' option.

@ all (above)

Thank you for your posts, it is good to know the ClixSense community can get together and support each other in times of concern or relaying serious developments.

I truly hope no-one was seriously affected by the closure of Liberty Reserve, I myself lost less than $4 so no real worry, I just need to complete a few offers/tasks here and I'll soon gain that back.

This is really sad news for LR account holders. Everyone that holds an account should know by now what's going on, at least should know that their site has been unaccessible for a few days. There is not much we can update about it really.

This appears to be the end of LR so we had no choice but to remove them from our site. Those still expecting payments via LR should cancel their cashouts and switch to PayPal or Payza instead.

As for alternatives we have none at the moment. PayPal is still our preferred payment processor. Skrill would be our number one choice but they are not accepting deposits from US companies, maybe one day they will. There is really nothing else that inspires us much trust.

I don't know how much of a hassle it is for CS but it seems to me there are some decent options if
one desires to implement.

For example, I have suggested before, gift card cash outs. As far as I know, this is a rather simple
process to set up. Members could choose Amazon codes to cash out their money. There is no fees
involved and I think there are a lot of benefits to including this option. Another popular one is Walmart
gift codes. I say codes because I am making it clear, nothing is physically shipped. The codes are
sent to the members email address, just like CSR does.

There is also an option of cash cards or whatever you want to call them. Members that choose this
option would have a ClixSense card. CS would load the cash onto the card.

There are masses of people that really do prefer the amazon/walmart gift card code and this would be
so great in more ways than one. Just imagine myself for example, displaying an image of items I
purchased at amazon.....for FREE....how?...with my ClixSense earnings.

Just saying.....

A few GPT sites offer Flipkart Gift cards for Indian members. So gift cards need not be limited to US members only.
I would love to redeem my ClixSense earning for gift cards as every now and then I make purchases on Flipkart.

Smart US members ask for check. I trying talk other ptc owners into doing this. If request enough fee cheaper than the other processors. I already need go bank monthly cash clickbank and other aff checks so one more does not hurt.

Are you kidding, far more. And LR has more money and bigger fish, would be surprised if after 5 years it will come to light or if at all. Imagine, it took 1.5 years for AlertPay at the time to start refunding some investors who lost to geniusfunds. Took me 1.5 years to get $80 back from a dispute that requested $1700 refund. :D

LR is gone folks, and so is your money. It might not be a good idea to apply for refunds and provide your personal info unless you were a legit site owner, otherwise as a member, if you ever used LR to invest in HYIP, you should write off your losses or it can end up being a very expensive mistake and you might be in trouble.

There are already LR spoofs out there claiming to be new owners, and asking already for your LR account and pass, personal data and ask for fees in order to recover funds. I've been trying to warn people on EMS regarding this and it happens, so be very careful ! Some vicious scammers will take advantage of LR's demise.

We like the idea of adding gift cards but what we really need is something that works for most people, especially for those that PayPal/Payza is not an option at all.

Ok folks, here is an update to Liberty Reserve.

It is now official, the domain was seized by the US government / Illicit financial team in accordance
to a warrant obtained by the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.

Well he was originally a US citizen yes ? who ran Goldpay from the US (not smart) so that will not help his case otherwise I don't think the US would have touched LR's site.

It would be VERY prudent for any payment processor online to prohibit access to US members, at least those processors that don't have the MSB license required.

Some actual US companies used LR (legit). Would be interesting to see if all US companies that used LR will be investigated because according to the law even if you are caught using something that was illegal, in a legit way :D (sounds funny) you are against the law. LR was rogue since 2011, it was not regulated nor approved by the COsta Rican authorities and banking regulations, so there is motive here about the allegations and its funding. ANY site owner or member who used LR who is from the US is subject to very difficult times ahead, IMO, I mean either that or they will simply go after the money itself, but it will be up to the US site owners and members to fight and document everything they did.

Again a perfect example of how innocent people will pay the price, whilst the alleged criminals will just relocate and operate under a new name...........This people, does NOT stop cybercrime, it only pushes it deeper underground.

STP & PM are next on the US's watch list.

They want to go after every and all payment processors.

NOTHING is safe, except PayPal of course, which operates legally according to the US's requirements lol,
and because it's an eBay company and big brother uses it too :D
