Ariel Castro Sentenced to Life + 1,000 Years

Locked

#1 by MsTNTallie54 » Sat Jul 27, 2013 20:52

Ariel Castro, the man who held the three women captive in Cleveland for a decade, pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to life in prison + 1,000 years for what he did. While I think he is getting what he deserved, I was wondering: does anyone else have opinions of his sentence?

Not really. I suspect he won't live long if he is dumb enough to live in the general population
and if he elects solitary he will live pitifully. Either way it goes, he is screwed in this world.

Especially since there are two things men in prison frowns upon: child molesters (of which he is one) and murderers. I suspect the same thing. I do agree with you; he is very much screwed. :o :o :o

Yep, in America, male prisoners tend to more than frown on crimes against women and children.
If it were a simple kidnapping case, that would probably be much different.
However, since it was a man that kidnapped women for sex and impregnated them, beat them,
held them hostage for years, you can pretty much bet someone in the prison population will kill
him. I am sure he knows that so he will probably live the remainder of his life in solitary.

In this day and time, it really does say a whole lot about a person that does what he did.
A whole lot. It's where the word 'coward' truly comes into play. We all know it wasn't about
the sex or about the women having children or anything like that. A man can get sex easily
enough these days, online, at a bar, on the street corner, etc. It was about being in power
over women, any time he wanted to, any time of day, any time of night. Prisoners know
that. They'll stick a shank up his arse first time they get a chance!

I can not believe that we are living in a world where people are doing bad things. This man gets over a century and a half for kidnapping people, and yet, Zimmerman gets out sentence free for killing a child. Who are we to blame for all of this? This is complete nonsense!

This is the kind of world we live in: dog eat dog. Every man is out for himself. But I do say this: if I were a man, I would rather have consensual sex with someone I loved than to risk going to jail over a fur beef (rape). Castro chose to kidnap, rape, impregnate and hold hostage three women for 10 years. When he kidnapped those young women, they were teenagers. He took their innocence. He claims he is a sex addict. Addict or not, he is a sick individual. He will never see the light of day, and it took me some time to wrap his crime around my head. I thought enslaving someone was unheard of, but he did it and not a soul had any idea that he had done it because he actually helped to search for two of the three missing women, knowing full well he knew where they were. It can't get any worse than that. :o :o :o

I don't see it as so much different than yesterday.

Today we have cnn, the internet, and a host of connections to what is happening every day,
around the world. Yesterday, we didn't have that. All we knew was what was going on in our
own neighborhood.

If you read the Bible, for example, you'll find a lot of horrific rapes, murders, tortures, kidnappings, etc.

Taking people captive, is nothing new and neither is rape, murder, or the slew of other horrific things
people do to people.

I do like to believe that most people are good and fortunately do not do such horrific things.

It would be nice if we had a giant vacuum cleaner that would suck up all the horrific doers and then
we could empty them all out on a remote island in the middle of the ocean. Let them have at it at
each other.

While it is true that taking people captive, rape, murder or the slew of other horrific things people do to people is nothing new, if we were raised right, we shouldn't get into those things. We should know the difference between right and wrong and that we are committing a sin in doing so. There are people who are determined to be that way. I should know, I am nearly 55, but when I was 9, the husband of my cousin molested me for three months until I put it to an end when we were visiting one of my cousins and he tried to force me to go outside to continue committing his sickening behavior. I said no and ran to my cousin. He threatened to kill his wife if I ever disclosed what he deemed to be "his secret". For a long time, I believed it was my fault. I am older now, and I know this was his sick way of getting me to lose my innocence by molestation. He sent his wife, who was my cousin, to college. My cousins gave her extra money to get her a ticket (one way, of course) to Cleveland, Ohio. I was happy, because she got away from the sick bastard too. :o :o :o
