iOS 7 has been released!

iOS 7 has been released a few minutes back.
I am sure everyone is rushing to update their devices (me too :D ) so Apple's servers must be on fire right now

I am on a 2mbps connection and the update is 728 MB. Normally it should take about an hour to download but its showing me 9 hours remaining

I'll let it download while I am asleep

Oh lordy lord. I'll have to do it too. I do kind of hate those as they take so long.

Now its 29 hours to go :silent:

Its getting close to midnight here. Already had a long and stressful day today with Ganpati visarjan.
Hopefully when I get up, the download is finished. Will have to leave it plugged in so that the battery doesn't die.

after the iPad finishes.

That's like people building tents outside to be the first in line to the concerts :D

I'm wondering, is it such a good idea to be installing something new ? Maybe it's good to be waiting
a while in case there are known problems that need to be addressed.
Lucky I don't have to deal with that, I have Android 4 and rarely get any updates on my tablet lol !

It's downloaded but not installed, on my ipad. I guess it's so busy it won't install.
It keeps saying to try again later.

Yes some times it is better to wait and see what others are saying. I don't guess it
matters tho because if there is any bugs, they'll have a fix for them.

Yippeee !!!! My phone now has iOS 7. Completly new interface and its going to take some getting used to.
Feels like I have a totally new phone :)
It didn't take 29 or even 9 hours. It was done in about 5-6 hours. Surprisingly, for one of my friends it took just a mere 22 minutes (8mbps connection) :o

Reminds me of the build up to the Harry Potter books.
I remember shutting myself from the entire world, locked in a room, no cellphone, TV, internet or anything to do with technology while reading the Deathly Hallows.
Didn't want anyone to spoil the climax.

iOS 7 has been in beta for about 3 months so most common bugs have been fixed. And from what I have read on most tech blogs, they all recommend it. And its free!

Only iPod Touch 5th Generation is compatible with iOS 7. Older ones are not.

Here is a nice chart : http://cdn.theapplelounge.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/iOS-7-Comparison-Chart-definitivo-1.jpg

Yup, I too had a lot a problems activating it. My phone showed the  logo for about 20-30 seconds after each step atleast 4 times.

Screen-shots before and after.

The Flashlight app is now of no use as Control Center has that option.
Notice that the clock icon now shows the correct time, including a live second hand.

IOS7 design is not so good to appreciate, but I liked the weather app, control centre features.. Not much to say.. The new design looks artificial / not professional :(

My iPhone 5 cable not working :( lot of problems with the cable !!

Well it appears that it drains the battery on the mini ipad.

Viewing some topics at apples support, it seems some mini ipad owners have had this problem
since the get go.

It was only tonight that I went to use it, and noticed it was totally drained. I thought that odd
because I normally keep it at 80% or higher. In other words, when I notice it has run down to
under 80%, I usually plug it into my mac for a few minutes to charge fully.

Tonight it was totally drained! I located the actual outlet plug and it's plugged into the outlet
at this moment. My warranty is good thru mid Nov so I may have to take advantage of it.
I'll see how it does over the next couple of days.

Obviously, the new ios7 has caused this drainage. Very weird.

I don't have a Mini so I can't confirm that Valerie.

Just checked for any software update and noticed there is a new update to iOS 7.0.2
