In India, is play-school that important ? Even if, mom is a home-maker, well educated?

nope, if a mom is well educated & also a home-maker then i feel there is no problem in raising the child herself & i also feel a child wont get a mom's care in play-schools.

but the trend now has changed a lot. both husband and wife now-a-days go to work due to our economy. in that case if no grandparents are there to take care of their child then one may consider a play-school.

I think it some times depends a lot on the child and the environment the child is in.

For example, if the child is the only child and parents working. Who does the child play with?
Who is teaching the child how to interact and share with other children?

This is one of the main reasons for 'play-school'. It gives children an early start on how to
interact with other children.

Children that attend 'play-school' may have an advantage over those that didn't.

But, I guess during 80's and 90's we didn't go to play schools and if not wrong play schools were not in picture...

My views :

I hold master degree- professional / home-maker and i make her learn but socialising kids is not that ease being home at all time :'(Always around parents..

Iam happy to make her feel she is in safe environment,. Recently - I came across a article about play school ( U.S - classy little Einsteins ) which discussed what a kid has to know... It's not creating crafts, to do list, and so on... But to make them feel they are around safe environment

In the USA we call it 'kindergarten' and children attend for half a day at the age of 5 years.
It's been that way since I can remember.
I attended kindergarten when I was 5 years old.....that's been.....over 50 years ago!

In the early 1970's a program called 'HeadStart' was introduced and children age 3 could attend
for half a day. The program at the time was mainly for disadvantaged families, lower class, and/or
children that had some sort of issue. This program was a pre-curser to kindergarten and the little
children could attend at age 3, the next year at age 4 and then go on to kindergarten the next
year at age 5.

Children learn from other children. There learn social skills. They learn sharing. They learn
manners. They learn patience. They learn a whole lot in pre-school programs.

In todays world, it's good for them to have as much schooling as possible.

It is important for the children to feel safe and be safe. It's also important for the child to function
without mommy around 24/7.

If both wife and husband are too busy persons and they dont have time to look after their kids so in such case they have join kids in play schools
