Who?

A cricketer?

Really?

He couldn't play forever, new talent is available, don't worry... remember him but look for inspiration elsewhere.

You need to be an Indian, and in India to understand the emotion. He is/was one man who could unite the entire nation.
A placard at the Wankhede read : India divided by religion, united by Sachin.
Another read : Mahatma Gandhi - Father of the Nation, Sachin Tendulkar - Son of the Nation.

When you see thousands around you, and perhaps millions in front of their TV sets crying openly and proud of confessing it publicly, you can imagine how special the occasion is. Thats what exactly happened when he gave his farewell speech.

It's always wonderful to have athletes in the world.

There's an abundance to be said for it in regards to the good. Whether it be football,
baseball, gymnastics, hockey, tennis, weight lifting, etc.

It is thru the aspiring and the great athletes in which so much is formed. Little things
like hope and understanding, world peace and bringing nations together if only for a
few hours.

It relays to youth they can be anything they want to be if they work hard enough.
