You are lucky in the U.S. of A. because you have Thanksgiving, which tends to 'delay' the arrival of Christmas paraphernalia.
:xsmile:

Over here in Australia, we start to see Christmas-related items in the shops in October!

P.S. That is the cutest avatar I have seen in a long, long, long time. x:D  :xkitty:

When the "Ber" months start, that's technically the Christmas season already ( where I am, that is :xlol: )

Ya, Christmas has become more of a sales thing than Christ birthday. It's rather sad, actually.

They start placing some Christmas items in the stores at Halloween (Oct. 31st) but even way
before then, there is always those urgency displays for Christmas. The home shopping sites
are good about creating Christmas frenzies in the summer.....they usually have just that....
'Christmas in July' specials. It's truly become insane.

Then of course there is Black Friday which is the day after ThanksGiving which is considered
the biggest shopping day of the year. This year, I hear it's going to be even crazier with some
stores being open all day and all night and even on Thanksgiving day.

Furthermore, they already have all kinds of specials right now online, early Black Friday deals
they call it.

In the USA, many people put their Christmas tree up at Thanksgiving or right after Thanksgiving
day and keep it up til after New Years. I think that so odd because who celebrates their own
birthday for over a month?

When I was a kid, the Christmas tree went up a few days before Christmas. Some presents
were put under the tree during those days but most went under the tree, the night before
Christmas morning. The tree stayed up til the day after New Years. I have pretty much kept
up that tradition all my life.

I guess one major reason why we did not keep a tree up for weeks on end, when I was kid,
is because we always had a LIVE tree. We kept water at the base but it doesn't take long for
the needles to begin falling off.
