How many times each day do you mean to say one thing, and say another instead, because you’re worried about what others might think ?

How often do you wake up in the morning with one idea in mind for what you want to accomplish, only to find yourself doing something else because of social pressures or personal anxieties ?

Do you dress the way you want to dress ? Do you listen to the music you really like, or do you follow the herd ? Are you working the job of your dreams, or the job of someone else’s dreams ?

In this industrial era, a lot of things are mass produced. It is harder than ever to be yourself when others want you to be mass produced too. But no lifetime, no matter how successful, will be truly rewarding or happy if you cannot learn to love yourself and be yourself. And while it may seem harder than ever now, the idea about being yourself came from famous writers, philosophers, businesspersons, and celebrities throughout history who have struggled to find their identity, just like you.

Ideas on being yourself make it clear that the struggle to determine your own identity and live the life that is most real in your heart is an age-old fight. But just as others have risen to the challenge, you too can learn how to be yourself, standing tall and proud.

Yog-Sothoth knows the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth. He knows where the Old Ones broke through of old, and where They shall break through again. He knows where They have trod earth's fields, and where They still tread them, and why no one can behold Them as They tread.

All my devices are named after places in the Cthulhu mythos. I started scraping the barrel a bit when I got to Innsbruck, and jumped the shark when I got to my Raspberry Pi which is called maidens-point, which comes from a Doctor Who episode (The Curse of Fenric) which doesn't even mention that Fenric is a Great Old One unless you happen to read the book too.

My laptop is awesome though - rlyeh-military-affairs. It always scares anyone when it shows up on public networks. In fact, it used to be my phone's name, but when people started reacting to it, I had to switch the name and keep that one on the device I use most.

But since this is a quote thread:

Quote:We hope to return to the North Way, carrying home the oriental treasures from the Silk Lands in the east, but the dark curse follows our dragon ship.

Black fog turned day into night, and the fingers of death reached out from the waters to reclaim the treasure we have stolen. I carve these stones in memory of Asmund, Grimvald, Torkal, Halfdan, brave Viking warriors slain by the curse.

We sought haven in Northumbria, and took refuge at a place called Maidens' Bay, but the curse of the treasure has followed us to this place.

-- Ancient Norse Runes

(Maiden's Bay is modern day Maiden's Point, in universe, anyway).

Mrs. Premise and Mrs. Conclusion are gabbing away in a launderette about how best to put down a budgie.

Mrs. Premise suggests flushing it down the loo.
Mrs. Conclusion's response:

Quote:Ooh! No! You shouldn't do that - no that's dangerous. Yes, they breed in the sewers, and eventually you get evil-smelling flocks of huge soiled budgies flying out of people's lavatories infringing their personal freedom.
