This is a form of suppression of expression that I do not agree with.
Yes I think the conversation is not worth the paper it is printed on but
I also believe those folks have the right to say it.

This locking irritates me more than what has been said.

It's irritating indeed but there is nothing the members can do when a moderator has the power to lock a topic after he / she makes a post full of irony and rudeness and decides to do exactly that.
It doesn't look like a professional management of this forum to me as well

Maybe that "violin" affected that mod in a bad way or something :)
