My Computer - Part 2 Continued - Laptop bargain

Locked

#1 by proadco » Sun Aug 09, 2015 18:03

Determined to get back on line without having spend a few hundred dollars for a new computer, I went on a expedition seeking alternative remedies for another computer. The re's always deals and bargains to be found around town, specially among wreck less spenders that has the need to buy new when something breaks for a replacement, instead of spending a few dollars to fix a simple problem that seems difficult.

Within 45 minutes on my 3rd stop, they happen to have two ( 2 ) Laptops that were in really good condition, looks like new, both had minor issues, but both works. One was a HP with Windows vista premium and the other a Gateway with Linux Lite of which is the computer that I'm on now.

Would you believe it.

I got both Laptops for only $20.00

So far the only thing I can find wrong with this Gateway computer is the power on button is missing and I use the tip of finger nail clippers to turn on the computer.

Amazing the deals anyone can find hitting up the yard sales.

Do yourself a favour and turn of Auto update on the Vista Laptop . My last Laptop was Vista . As soon as it gets online it else will try to update . The update crashed my Laptop from day 1 . I had to remove it all the time before turning of Auto update .

I use to like Gateway rather well, preferred them over Dell.
Only thing is, the Gateway laptop I had, kept a charge for 40 minutes.....Ok, so that was in the old days.

Valerie, I've never used a laptop until now, I can see the convenience of owning one. But I'm experiencing if you hit the wrong keys when typing, it gets little crazy.

Not sure how it's going to work out trying to make web pages and such, think I have a work around solution for that if it becomes a hassle.

Only been two days on this laptop, still learning my way around and first time experience using linux - a double learning curve at once.

A laptop uses a lot less power than a stationary . You are saving on the electrical bill by using a laptop . Try studying the power consumption before buying . It might save you a lot of money in the computers or laptops lifetime .

More importantly, a carefully selected laptop can run from solar - just check the voltage before you buy. A desktop can too, but converters are wasteful, and for solar to be viable, you need it to be efficient.

If you're running from solar and have unlimited bandwidth (real unlimited, not marketing speak unlimited), everything you do is profit...albeit, with a long term view. Setup is expensive.

On the flip side, laptops can't do liquid cooling (well, they can, but not well), so you'll still need a desktop for the server unless you're going to setup a rack. Or just pay somebody else for a server. Most people do that.

@ Adinkle

You betcha, The Dollar Tree, General Dollar, Family Dollar business is booming thanks to the Democrats, mass layoffs, job cuts, higher taxes, food banks are running short to give to needy families and the Yard Sale business is Booming.

Even Hilliary stated, she wants to make it mandatory to send everyone to the Fun Camp... what that really means is... Re-education camp, no more American Dream and live under Sharia Law , Resolution 16/18 , google that up and watch the video where the professor explain what that is all about.

She shouldn't have accepted the state post and instead built rapport with swing voters in the past 8 years. Without the emails and benghazi she'd be the best positioned today to grab the center-right confused by the Don and me-too Jeb. With a clean slate she'd easily clam old Bernie for being so far to the left even the #blm folks aren't happy with him. Besides she has a very powerful ally right at home; Bill was very popular for some reasons, not the least was very solid records of booming economy.

There you go Arlene. Being a cash hoarder deprives the finer things in life.
Glad to hear that opened up that cash roll and bought you a new HP.

As for Yard Sale. You know. A great way to get new clixsense members is to get out of the house,
go visit those neighborhood yard sales and leave some ClixSense opportunity business cards at each
Yard Sale. Those bargain hunters are prime prospects for active referrals.

In addition. You would need your own domain name to advertise and not use the actuall
clixsense affiliate url cause the general public will exclude including the full sign up link
by leaving off the affiliate id /?xxxxxxx

I been enjoying my cash few years. I paranoid thinking government will seize it so I rather enjoy it before bad times come. My thinking starting to rub off on worse spend-thriths in my family.
