Is everyone excited about upcoming Halloween? What costume are you going to wear? Are you taking your kids trick or treating? The most important question Is do you think Halloween should be cancealed?

As a foreign citizen, I believe Halloween shouldn't been canceled, I was in the United States last year when Halloween took place and I liked what I've seen, people preparing their costumes, houses being decorated, I believe that it's a cool tradition that unite people and I wish we had it too...

Oh yeah, I'm really excited. I can't wait for a horde of kids with their skanky parents to come hammering on my door all night demanding sweets. When I was a lad, you were told to say no to any strange man who offered you sweets, or the puppies in his van. I suppose kittens were okay, nobody ever warned your about strange men with kittens in their van.

I feel this was a win-win situation. Children didn't get abducted, and men got left alone.

If you can't have fun without knocking on my door and disturbing me, I think you deserve to be miserable, and anything you enjoy should be illegal. Preferably, with capital punishment.

It's a pagan holiday that eventually lost its way over time.

If my grandparents ever knew what it really was, how it really started, they would
never ever have handed out candy let alone buy me the stupid princess costume
every year with the cheap plastic face mask that made my face sweat and break
out. It was fun when I was a kid. We enjoyed TPing yards of people that we didn't
like. It was fun then.

ROFL curmudgeon!

Everywhere I've lived in the U.S. had this little thing called a front porch light. On Halloween, if the light is off, no one comes to the door (except miscreants...and they'll come anytime). If the porch is lit, the cuties are always welcome. And IF the teens who can't give it up are nice, they get candy, too.

Edit to add: I don't think it should be canceled, I think the creepy peeps who make it harmful for the kiddos should be tarred and feathered. Little kids shouldn't be afraid or hurt.

 Anyone willing to try something 'pleasantly dangerous'? ( or at least til the next Halloween )

I won't link; just open up your favorite search engine and use the keywords: "randofo flame throwing jack o lantern" -- it's a DiY tutorial item for anyone ( pictures and step-by-step included )

Supersoaker + Candle is the way to go. It gives you the best balance between size of flame, and safety to self.

I never killed myself with a flamethrower, but that's a matter of luck.

Wasn't my fault - the plans for homemade flamethrowers first sprang up on Fidonet when I was fifteen (which I concede is largely another word for stupid).

 At least, on a more safer tone, one can rig an old vacuum ( if you can get hold of a leaf blower, the better ) + cloth hangers ( wire, not plastic ) + duct tape + lots of rolls of tissue paper to make a Toilet Paper Blower

( Again, I won't be linking -- using the search engine keywords: "JFKinator Toilet Paper Blower" )

It's a shame halloween and daylight savings aren't on the same day. There's nothing more evil than visiting friends on daylight savings day, and changing all their clocks to double the daylight savings.

I love Halloween ,but unforunate no one comes to my house to get the candy that we have to offer. I get two bags of candy and my grandson goes out trick or treating for an hour. Then we sit on the porch for another hour playing a game while waiting for anyone to show up for candy. No one comes. Should I leave my light off next year is the question that I am going to be pondering. I would love to hear what you have to say.

Well, had my light on for the whole three hours and no one came to my door wanting candy. I guess next year is going to be minus one light on. Just a simple question how many turn their lights on or leave it off? Why?

Sorry, I may be as stumped on the idea as the next person; but maybe some kids may like a bit more 'scare' than usual ;)

Try lighting a candle or two, minus the lights -- say, leave the candle on the steps, or by the window ( make sure there's no curtains/drapes! ) and wait a bit in the shadows *soft evil snickering*

I love to think of Halloween as a community time to get together. My church has a Halloween party where they invite the children of the community in for a safe time trick or treating. Should we have a time for the kids to go around or should we have church put on a safe Halloween time?

How many of us put candy in the freezer for next month? How many bought candy for next year while it was on sale after Halloween to put it in the freezer for next year's Halloween?
