Hello Friends, I have a doubt  on Domain Names, I want your help!

How many sub domains can I create with my Domain?

Is there any maximum limit on number of Sub Domains per Domain?

Thank you Friends. Thanks to :clixsense:

You can have 63 characters in a subdomain, and each character can be one of 26 letters, so 26^63 + 26^62 + 26^61... is the limit. One can also use punycode to increase the limit further.

Edit - no, I'm wrong. That's the technical limit. In reality, bind only allows 16777216 entries per zone.

That's if you're self-hosted. If you're on shared hosting, it's more likely you'll have a limit between 0 and 5.

I agree if have own dedicated server be very high limit. Most shared host will have limit. So dedicated server or vps is your answer.

One can even setup wildcard DNS. That is
Code: Select All
*.mywebsite.com A 12.34.56.78
and let the server handle the subdomains. This gives you infinitely many. SNI may break in some browsers with wildcard DNS. This also lets you completely ignore the character lengths in RFC 2181, though again, some browsers may complain.

The answer is simple.

Contact the hosting company you are subscribed to and ask them.
