Two thumbs up for you.
Better doing task = earn money, then smoking = wasting money

The tobacco industry invested millions to keep people hooked on their unhealthy products. Good for you to fight it. Smoking affects not only you but everyone around you. Good luck and if you feel jittery at times, reach for a stick of gum. Good luck.

Sorry. Not in this lifetime! Too many health benefits that the repressionistic government of my country is beginning to have to acknowledge. It has been a part of the human pharmacopoeia for millennia. Illegalizing the agricultural competition in favor of the petrochemical companies was a crime of greed perpetuated on us less than a hundred years ago. It is well past time to restore hemp and cannabis to its rightful, respectable place in society.

BTW! Congratulations Mathijs on quitting the truly evil weed tobacco.
I freed myself from that addiction about four years ago and am loving every minute I am not a slave to the cigarette.

I need to quit eating but doubt I will ever. Closest I came was 10 weeks did not eat in hospital. They gave me low quality food and I keep my word and refused to eat it. I told them first day if food was not to my standards I would not eat it they apparently did not believe me.

I can relate to this

When I quit smoking, the one thing that helped me stopped my craving was to nibble on something -- food -- sweets, salty snacks, just to get the habit off

Unfortunately, like things of excess... yup, it gets hard to stay on a diet ( but I haven't been smoking for 5 years now )

Actually, it's one of the easiest tasks. As Mark Twain had said, he did it a thousand times. And so are many others.

It's since 1 month you say, so it isn't quitting smoking, just say you have stopped smoking. If you can remain without a puff till this time next year, then yes, smoking did quit you.

Well thanks people for the congrats. I succeeded by literally locking myself up for a full day and all day long I've played silly internet games. On purpose, just to force myself not to smoke. I even went to another address to do that as I wanted to be completely alone. All this might sound a bit extreme, but I've smoked for 15 years and very heavy, and I felt kind of desperate really. So I figured that that maybe was the only solution. And I managed to quit for a month now. That might not be really a long time yet, but there's no way I'll start again because I know very well how hard it is to quit.

I quit smoking after 20 years of 60 per day (no health problems have always jogged 3 miles in morning and 5 miles at night and played for local football/soccer team on sundays) just fancied a change as was getting expensive in UK to smoke.

And as 20 of my usual cost £9.57 im saving £30 per day £210 per week £10,000+ per year.

Bloody hell, they're really that much?

They were £1 for ten, and a box of matches when I started. It was £12 for two ounce of rolling tobacco when I quit.

I quit perhaps even more radically than Mathijs - I underwent an age old pagan ritual which in modern, scientific terms would probably be called attempted suicide, that is, a hypothermia induced trance.

I don't know how it worked, and I don't know why I did it. It was incredibly stupid, and I'm lucky not to be dead. But it did work.
