Well, technically he's the reason why a lot of people are fuming mad -- Turing Pharmaceuticals CEO Martin Shkreli, that man who single-handedly jacked the price of Daraprim 5000% it's original price, has been arrested for Security Fraud, a case not lightly taken by the US Federal Government

Details of it can be seen at the Bloomberg News Features article below:

I was just surprised when I got wind of it yesterday while browsing among the tech blog -- and it was definitely eye-cataching  ( when have one ever seen an article that has it's very own "Scam" thumbnail image )

;) What also made my day was the discussions posted by many readers on that tech blog, and the many links provided; a lot of thought-gems there worth reading

EDIT: Nearly forgot the source where: Merry Christmas Internet! Turing CEO Martin Shkreli Arrested on Securities Fraud | Techdirt

Now here's another one that should be having a lot of coal in his stockings this year -- Donald Trump -- the man who made the world hate his political agenda, now mentions of "turning off the internet"; details can be seen at the TechDirt Blog below:

You can't believe everything you read. That's not exactly what he said nor exactly what he meant.

What he is saying is, to shut down and block known terrorist websites and recruiting sites/chat rooms, etc.

Unfortunately, the media loves to turn things around and grab attention any way they can.

Trying to 'shut down' ( or prevent, depending on the PoV ) any means of accessing the Web by a governing body, would be no different from someone trying to stop the sea from reaching the shore, or trying to raise the stars on a whim

I know there's that message that he ( Trump ) wants to reduce the possibilities of such online activity to 'protect the children' ( there's that catch-phrase that's been used again and again ever since SOPA ), but this is Trump... *sigh*

Offhand: I just love that quote from one of the Blogs readers: "In other news, the Internet called for a partial shutdown of Trump"

If one were to close my website down, well, we invented nomadic identity four years ago now. You can just upload your identity to another site, and all your friends are still there, and all your content is still there, and this works across three different platforms now. If you were to kill my domain, I've still got an alt root, I'm still accessible by onion, and with my IP directly. If you kill my remote server, I've still got a local computer I can serve from. If you kill my home internet, that's fine - I've also got a mesh.

And, I'm not even trying to evade censorship.

One problem today is that people focus on so called 'political correctness' and people
in general can't say anything because some people take things out of context.

In days long past, people used common sense. Every word wasn't taken so literally.

There are ways that the terrorist can be blocked off from some websites and perhaps
even some of their own websites shut down. There are ip addresses that we all know
aid in tracking.

I've had servers and it's relatively easy to block specific countries and ip's. Even cheap
scripts can do a fairly decent job at that.

Nothing in the world is fool proof but that doesn't mean you give up, you don't try.

There's people that always want to holler the constitution and censorship, etc and
totally throw common sense out the window. I don't think our forefathers in America
thought that people would be so dumb in the future as to not use common sense along
with the laws of the land.

Well, if it's not one thing, it's ten others.

True, firewalls are a thing. Applying your firewall rules to my server is quite a different matter. It's not imperfect, it's impossible. It's Caligula declaring war on Neptune all over again.

And you're right, we can deal with them when they appear on our sites. I have personally been involved with removing ISIS from our platform. What we can't do is deal with them when they appear on their sites.

Incidentally, one wonders why they need powers to spy on a far greater portion of their population than the Stasi ever managed if they can just arbitrarily ban people and sites...

I mad as he did nothing wrong. It not politically correct but is not illegal. He just marked it up way to high way to fast. His arrest proof we no longer capitalist country but I known that for awhile. Doubt he will be convicted.

ISIS wants to recruit as many as they can and they're not doing too bad a job at it.

It's up to all the good people that use the internet to do what they can to keep ISIS
at bay, to say the least.

I don't know if it is much different than those that visit chat rooms to molest our
children. I personally don't give a rats what any constitution says if it is going to
allow our children and our good people to be molested, tortured, and/or murdered.
Everything goes out the window when it comes to WAR. You can't be nice to killers
unless you seek to be killed. Put a 'politically correct, constitution following guy in
a cage while ISIS pours gas on him and while ISIS is holding the match..then ask
the guy how much he cares about his political correctness now.

@ jjohnson777, I don't know what you are talking about but it sounds like you may
be referring to the guy that jacked up the aids meds.

Just got wind earlier -- though I wasn't able to save the source, it seems that the lawyer of Martin Shkreli has adjusted his fee accordingly to his client... at 5500% as well  ( Posted bail, that he did... )

And I got to read other news articles; among them, the Alumni of his old school voiced out to return his donation of US$1M+

Looks like the dominoes are falling down... ;)
