I never received that $4.66 in my account but in my checklist it says that the total earned for today is $4.67 so I don't understand why my balance at the top does not reflect this. any ideas what is going on?

The offer is likely pending right now. Go to the offerwall and you should be able to find somewhere that the offer is pending. If all goes well after 30-60 days you will be credited.

Offers with pay higher than 4.00$ are in Pending for 60 days, you can check Offers: History - ClixSense to see when it will be credited...

It should also show in your clixsense offer history at Sign In - ClixSense
