I've got three vixens. I think the mother is about three, and the kids six or seven months. These are country foxes, and the pups didn't have the bravado city foxes sometimes show with humans. They haven't told me their names yet. It took months to make them accept me, and it's only the last few weeks we've got as close as physical contact, they're still scared of every other human, and still disappear as the sun comes up, or lights come on.

Also, a cat I rescued from a bin - literally. A woman up the street died while her cat was pregnant, and they moved into our bin. I rehomed them all, but one. He's called Percy, I don't know why - my sister chose it.

I want to get a dog, but female genital mutilation is wrong, so I can't use a dogs home, and you'd be amazed how hard it is to find a private seller with a proper dog these days. They're all three inch tall little rat-like things.

You lost me on the female dog paragraph.

We have little red fox's around here. I don't see them often but I do see them. There
were two little red fox's that hung around here a lot during the summer a few years ago.
One of them climbed a tree to get the food off the squirrel stand. That's something I
never saw before......a fox climb a tree. He didn't climb way up, just a ways to the little
stand but it was still interesting to watch.

I have a little rat like dog. He is a maltese and now weighs a whopping 7 pounds. He
did come by way of a breeder that breeds only maltese. BUT I bought him from someone
else that had bought him and then decided she didn't want him. I should say, I didn't
actually buy him, he was a gift from my significant other when I told him I wanted a dog
for Christmas. I happen to find the ad online a couple of places, one she had posted on
Craigs list. It so happen she only lived about ten miles from me.

There was a day I enjoyed house cleaning but I am not thrilled about it any more. I
wanted a small dog that does not leave fur every where and I wanted one that normally
has a long life span. The maltese fit the bill. I wouldn't take anything in the world for
him. He is so cool.

All my cats are strays. I wish people would spay/neuter their animals. I think it should
be a huge fine if an outside cat/dog is not spayed/neutered.

PS. My inside cat is like a pirate. He doesn't have a tail. He has one eye. He never takes a bath.
He stares at me around corners with his one eye. He wants to eat 24/7. He bellers in the middle
of the night if his food dish goes empty . MEEEEOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWOOOOOOWWWWWEE
over and over until I get up and put food in his dish. He is real fat like a fat pirate.

I have always had both dogs and cats in my life. My faithful rottweiler Molly was put to sleep a couple of months ago, 13 years old.

Now I have a 14 weeks old rottweiler puppy called Melvin. He is a little terror at times, but now almost house trained and very eager to learn.

I also have a 5 year old male (neutered) cat called Fandango. He is the master of the house, for now.....

Sorry to hear about Molly. Pets are our family and it is losing a family member.

I like 'Melvin' for a name, it's cute. :xpuppy:

I have 3 dogs, all of mixed heritage because they were rescues. I've been a foster mom for a local shelter for many years until I finally retired from it. My largest dog is a 120 pound "thing". He's enormous with an immense head and very long snout. If he stands on his hind legs, he looks remarkably like a werewolf. He may be part wolf. Some day I'll do a DNA test to find out for certain. One is an older female Golden Retriever who is a sweetheart. The third is a small Irish Terrier female wih a precocious personality.

All are spayed or neutered. In the U.S. with 4 million adoptable animals being euthanized each year in the nation's shelters, it's really important to do this.

I'm intrigued with the foxes. Beautiful animals.

BouldRake, try visiting your local animal shelter. They usually have dogs of all sizes and great temperaments. You don't have to go to a breeder.

I have a 14 year old pit bull mix. His name is Bruiser. He has the body of a pit bull, but his legs are really short and he has these big, chunky paws. Maybe part beagle, I'm not sure. I have had him since he was born because his mother was a stray my ex and I took in, and she was pregnant. She had 7 puppies all together, we found homes for most of them, and ended up keeping Bruiser, and his sister, Sugar, who didn't look anything like him. When I moved here to Alabama, I brought Bruiser with me. He has lots of nicknames, Boo, Boo-boo, Bru, Miester, Pee Wee (my boyfriend's choice) and the people here at my complex call him Buddy. I don't know why, but it's OK with Bruiser. :puppy:

I like hearing the names of pets because people often name them such cute names.

What do you feed your pets or do they like a particular food better than another?

I have been trying to give Bruiser grain free dry food, and it's mixed with some canned food, mostly Pedigree. I use that dynovite because his skin was all irritated, and he was scratching and biting on his lower back so much, some of his fur fell out. the dynovite worked, his fur grew back, and he doesn't scratch as much, or bite, but I noticed today it looks like he may be biting by the base of his tail a little. So, I put some spray that the vet gave me on it, so that should help. I like the Rachel ray zero grain, the purina beyond, and I bought one the other day called encore, it's new. The vet told me he's doing pretty good for an "old man." LOL.

Melvin the rottweiler puppy will eat anything even remotely resembling food, and he is particularly fond of all types of clothes, blankets, carpets etc.

I feed him Royal Canine Large Breed for puppies, A38 (A Danish dairy product, sort of a cross between sour cream and natural yoghurt) and for snacks I give him whole carrots (he really loves them) and for training small pieces of bread, ham and chicken.

When he has to be alone at home he gets a couple of carrots and a large hollow chewbone filled with something sticky like liverpaté. That keeps him occupied for up to 5 hours.
