I don't think we know a lot about ole St Patrick except he was a Christian missionary....In Ireland, me thinks...
and so the Irish celebrate St Patrick's Day, to honor him and their own culture.

A lot of Irish came to the USA and in reality helped found the country with their skills and culture.

So, every year we celebrate St Patrick's Day ...... kind of like us celebrating St Valentine's Day.

There's big celebrations, parades, people wearing green......green, green, green.

Hi Vaal, I don't know much about it either :D Literally Saint Patrick's Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick (Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig, "the Day of the Festival of Patrick"), is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick ( c. AD 385–461), the foremost patron saint of Ireland. :in addition to the Patron Saints of Europe , D Benedict of Nursia, Saints Cyril and Methodius, Bridget of Sweden, Catherine of Siena, Edith Stein

I grew up during the troubles. St Paddies day wasn't really celebrated, though it was the one day a year you could point out that actually, England should get the hell out of Ireland, and not be be branded an IRA sympathiser for your dissent, so there's that.

Here Saint Patrick day is just a day used as excuse to be drunk in pubs.
