It depends on where you are placing the banner.

Most sites have a place for you to place the link to the banner image
and then also a place for your referral link.

Think of it as underwear and pants. You put your underwear on and
your pants over it. Your underwear is your ClixSense referral url and
your pants is the ClixSense banner image url.

yeah i understand that (i think)

all im trying to do is advertise my CS ref link, i have a small 4 page site that i put my link into. i have bought a name for a year and i have masked my page with it. i want the banners to take people to the page but i dont know how, i also have no idea where to put a banner in the first place. i joined a rotator thing but very quickly got lost so i thought i would ask in the forum as somebody on clixsense MUST know  i wouldnt have the site at all if it wasnt for this forum

I don't know what kind of site or hosting you have.

It's difficult to tell you anything without knowing what your are doing exactly
or what you are using exactly.

If you need HTML help you can do a search online 'free html code help' something
like that and you will pull up some free help sites that show you how to place the
banner code into your own pages.

i got hold of a magazine called 'create a website' and it shows how to use wordpress etc. i ignored all that and went straight to the part called 'create a simple website in minutes - for free!' it showed a site called webeden.co.uk and i knocked up a site in about an hour. obviously ive changed bits here and there but for a first go i think its ok. anyway im happy with it now and its there i just want to promote it.

its free hosting (if that helps)

I think hansgruber is trying to get together a free website where he can have several different banners for several different PTC's at the same time.

So he just needs to advertise a single link to his own website, instead of having to advertise multiple links to a lot of other sites.

It can be efficiently and save a lot of jobs, money and possibly not having to surf so much for credits in TE's

( Think he's getting lazy... =8c)

i should explain

the whole site is about clixsense - i use no other sites. its a description of what you need to do to become a member, the different things available to earn and a couple of payment proofs. nothing else. oh and my ref link.

what i need to advertise is THAT website. i made 3 banners but i dont know what else to do

It's hard to help you because you haven't got a website - you've got a site builder. Site builders are good at throwing up a site in a few minutes without having a clue what you're doing, and bloody awful if you need to do anything else.

If you're lucky, you'll have a file manager somewhere in your site builder. The file manager is easy, it's the same as your own computer, but with the slashes the other way round. In the top level directory, you'll either see . .. and a bunch of files include index.html or you'll see html_docs/ or www/ or /var/www or ~/username or some combination of these things.

But somewhere in one of these places, you'll find a bunch of files, and one of them will be called index.html (or index.shtml, or index.php - index.something). Once you find this file, upload your banner there. Once you've done that, your banner will be available at mydomain/BannerFileName where "mydomain" is your domain name, and "BannerFileName" is whatever you called the banner.

If you haven't got a file manager - and lots of free hosting sites don't like you hotlinking, so may deliberately make it hard - you'll have to use external image hosting.

To setup a banner exchange, you need to embed a chunk of HTML into your pages, which will be provided by the banner exchange after you've given them the URL of the banner you've just uploaded. Your site builder may or may not have this functionality - and even if it does, it might not work, because the HTML will actually be Javascript, and any HTML sanitiser will filter out Javascript...

Unfortunately, what you've gained in throwing a site up quickly, you've lost in being able to do anything useful with it.

That's why we're struggling to help you, nobody is sure what you're asking because yes - it's that simple.

You need a web host be willing to take few hours to help you. Those type host very expensive. I used to do that but than few abuse it thinking there very small hosting fee entitled them to 4-8 hours of help daily. Which be problem when got 3-4 all wanting that much help. But than they cheap on fee part. I actually thinking going back in hosting but I going to pick very high fee as I want to be able help people. Most people only need help first month but some ones like in blonde jokes need that type help every day. You need avoid national host and look for mom & pop host.

Yes, the Banner URL is the banner image and it is stored / hosted here in ClixSense.

Banner URL : "http://csstatic.com/banners/clixsense_gpt468x60a.png"
