last week i had a mild heart attack. i had an angiogram and was told i need a heart bypass in 4 weeks time. reason im telling this is i was teying to find someone who has had to have this kind of operation as well. Just need to know what to expect.

It's ok. It's wonderful they can detect these things now and not that having
a heart attack is good, it is fortunate that they did detect this.

You'll feel much better, physically and mentally.

All the best. My husband can not have a bypass but has a pace maker and defibrillator implanted inside his left shoulder muscle. He has been doing alrite and has to go for check up once a year.

thanks for all the replies. ive done some research on it but still quite scary. i go to my doctor tomorrow maybe she can tell me more. i'll let you know when im due to have operation

I wish you the best and can only encourage you by telling you that these bypass surgeries have become quite common now. That doesn't make them less scary to the person undergoing the procedure but at least you know their success rates are good. I've had two family members receive bypass surgeries over 20 years ago. They have done very well and live full lives. One even remarried and started a new life.

I'm sure you've already done this but be sure to ask your doctor about options for less invasive procedures. One of my relatives is scheduled to have a heart valve replacement surgery but they don't even have to open up her chest as is done in open heart surgery. It's amazing what they can do now.
