OPTIMIST or PESSIMIST

Locked

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle (Albert Einstein).

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars (Oscar Wilde).

The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails (William Arthur Ward).

The world is like a tomato to me.

It doesn't matter what color it is or what size it is.

I'll eat it anyway.

Tell us what you intend to buy for the bonus, or is it a secret.

If nothing else, you could buy in a survey company, for we need more of that stuff.

My best friend... :P

Billions of years ago, a firey, inhospitable planet was slammed with a meteor with a high iron content which formed the Earth's core. This core allowed the planet to form a geomagnetic field which extends beyond the planet into outer space. This field acts as a deflector of the solar winds from the sun. Without it, the atmosphere would be whipped away and anything living on Earth would die. If the planet's orbit would be a little closer to the sun, all life would be fried. A lttle further from the sun and the planet would be a frozen waste land. If the orbit of the planet was a bit different, it would reel out of the universe, lost forever in the far reaches of space or it could be slammed into the sun. So many many intriguing coincidences enabling us to survive . . . how could one not be an optimist?

I still believe that i will become extremely wealthy at ClixSense, so Mark Zuckerberg can throw itself into the wall.

So probably i'm probably an optimist then, or have only got a brain disorder of a serious nature.

I'm definitely an optimist.

How could you not be when you see the wonders of the world & universe around us? And the amazing things that humankind has been able to do, from building the pyramids to detecting gravity waves & the faintest echoes of the big bang. How we can still hear the radio signal from a spacecraft that is now more than 20 billion kilometres (12 billion miles) away, even though its transmission power is only 23 watts (less than 10 times the power of a modern cell phone).

Closer to home, even in society goodness always eventually prevails over badness, no matter how much negative people try to convince us otherwise. Sometimes things do become very dark, but light always breaks through in the end. Life goes on - might as well enjoy it. It is a lot more fun if you do it that way :)

Of course, a radio host I listen to recently said that being a pessimist isn't that bad either. Every day is full of pleasant surprises when things turn out better than you expected

You’re never too old to reinvent yourself."

Sir Martin Sorrell
Times are tough and many people are struggling to stay optimistic given the state of the economy, the insecurity of their jobs (if they have one), the size of their mortgage and the strain that puts on relationships at home. Maybe you are one of them, or maybe you know someone else who is having it tough.

Research has found that seeing the glass half full not only makes you happier, it makes you healthier and wealthier. A study by Psychologist Susan Segerstrom found that ten years after graduation, law students who were optimistic earned an average of $32,667 more than their glass-half-empty peers.

Expecting good things to happen will lead to taking actions that produce positive results. Expecting only more bad stuff to come your way will keep you from doing the very things that might have minimized or avoided just that!

The word “optimism” actually derives from the Latin word “optima,” meaning the best outcome or belief in the greatest good. As I said during my interview on the TODAY SHOW, while some people are naturally more optimistic than others, ultimately we all get to wake up every day and choose whether we are going to be a glass half-full, or a glass half-empty person.
