WINE is your friend. It runs more Windows software than Windows can. It's a bit behind with newer games, but much better support for older games than Windows Vista/7/8. You'd have to compile it yourself on Windows, though. Nobody supplies prebuilt binaries there. It's also easier to use with PlayOnLinux which plain won't work on Windows whatever you do - so a dual boot is your easiest bet.

Also DosBox for MS/DOS games.

Okey , nice...

A '' BIG '' thanks for your help with this , it is very much appreciated !!

Now i try to start my beloved Railroad Tycoon.

The railway game is a little slow, but it is something with that game i love.

I'm somewhat fond of games that includes economics.

Another game that i would like to get started , is the truck game 18 Wheels of Steel.

That truck game is so boring that it almost becomes real , usually almost falling asleep at the wheel sometimes.

Again , thank you !!

Ha ha ha Stay away from Desert bus then Zegon.

No but I received a fantastic gaming mouse pad just a couple of days ago.
The thing is HUGE and I am going to place it on my desk.....it will cover a
large portion of my desk which will come in more than handy. I won't be
so restricted to just a small mouse pad. It has a life time guarantee and
the thing is humongous!

I use KoLMafia religiously, and wrote one of the auto-updaters. Since KoL is a server/client model, Mafia is called a client, but if it was any other kind of game, it'd be a mod, or at least, a UI overhaul.

For Fallout 1, there isn't much. You want Fallout Fixt - (Full / All fixes and mods), which is a mod that, well, patches all the broken stuff.

For Fallout 2, you want MIB88 Megamod or Fallout 2 Restoration Project.

Fallout Tactics, Awaken is the closest thing we'll ever have to a real Fallout 3. It struggles because of Engine limitations, but it's far, far better than anything Bethesda will ever do. Enclave and Enclave 2 seem to be good, but I haven't tried them yet.

VTM:B, the Clan Quest Mod is the best. As the name suggests, it gives you a new quest for every clan, as well as some small extra quests here and there. The Final Nights is sort of good, but the authors don't understand choices and tradeoffs. They think everyone should be able to do everything, every playthrough, which ruins it. Too many skill books, nothing you can do with one character build, but not the other. The strong stupid character plays exactly the same as the manipulative, physically weak character. It's worth a playthrough, but only one.

Arcanum, polished_carcanum is mental. It makes everything play like the Wheel Clan. It's fun on paper but...isn't fun. Just use the unofficial path.

Wesnoth is a bit different too - because it's open source, and has an official server, it's called User Made Content. If it was any other game, they'd be called mods. I play almost exclusively mods with Wesnoth. Bad Moon Rising and Trinity are the best. Invasion From The Unknown and After the Storm come next. The Legend Of Mermywuss is mine. I'm not proud, and it was written for a twelve year old, but at least I gave something back.

After I play modded Baldur's Gate 1&2 I plan on playing Fallout 2 modded or I may play them the other way around. Depends on my mood when the time comes.

Cool another RPG Fanatic, I'll might be from a slightly younger generation of gamers but i've always disliked the modern approach of today's games.

My all-time favourite oldschoolers are defenitely Daggerfall,The Divinity series,Titan Quest,Final fantasy tactics,Fire Emblem series and disgaea (All of them) lol.

Of course i'm also into more recent games like Morrownid,Oblivion and Fallout 3 + new vegas, I'm simply so disappointed with modern rpg's these days, Bought Fallout 4 and hated it (What a complete joke of an rpg) Skyrim i can sort of swallow as long it's modded with 200+ plugins he he.

Never heard of Wesnoth but hey hey hey!! Sounds pretty interesting (Defenitely gonna try it out) Thanks for info.

I'll might not be able to convince you,But if you're in the possesion of Oblivion + Latest patch you should defenitely try out Nehrim at fate's edge, It might have the modern visual graphics but the skilled modders from SureAI actually succeded in implementing good old rpg-style with a modern setting.

And boy is it beautil,so many things are handcrafted and the visuals are gob-smacking with thick dense forest's,Rich wildlife etc. Nearly had an orgasm first time i've left the intro dungeon

I love when younger gamers are willing to check out the classics because there are some really great ones are truly worth at least one play through. The only game that's out right now that I want to check out is Doom but I'm waiting for the price to come before I buy it.

I do the same , awaiting the desired game will go down in price.

I almost always buy used games only , which means that i basically play games that are about 3 to 4 years old , continuously.

But the games are just as good as when they hit the market

The difference in price for the used trade-in games is huge , new game cost around 500 - 600 SEK , which used for about 3 to 4 years it will only cost about 120 - 80 SEK

The price is more important to me than i am in a hurry to get to play a new game at launch.

So you can basically say that i constant is 3 to 4 years after all the time. ( goes 4 my brain 2 )

But it does not bother me , because i have an influx of 3 to 4 years old games all the time in my second-hand games store.

In that computer games shop , i have a wish list of what games i want , so they put aside these to me , when they come in as second hand.

Works just fine 4 me and i save several meters of banknotes. ( Type 2 times around the world )

I haven't bought any games in years now. I was tempted by Wasteland 2, but what I really wanted was another Fallout, and it just didn't fill that gap. I'll almost certainly get Tides of Numenera, though. They won me over when they presented this image which looks quite familiar.

I try to avoid games that includes monsters and shady creatures that kind Doom ( has only played the very first version of Doom ( about 25 yrs ago ?? ) :P and it was enough for me ))

I would prefer that the games should be as faithful to reality as possible.

I like in itself to play Rage , but there's the limit for me , i think.

LOL That's what makes things interesting. I like horror games but some of my favorites are also RPGs and FPSs.

If you like horror games, try to fine a copy of FIEND. It wasn't exactly an A list game - in fact it was a student's computer science course work. The graphics weren't great - it was a blend of top down and isometric artwork typical of a programmer who can't draw - but it's an excellent little Lovecraftian Horror. I lost my copy in a hard drive crash a few years ago, otherwise I'd just upload it somewhere.

Oh, actually, it looks like it was released properly eventually: https://frictionalgames.com/site/fiend
