Paypal payments to members in Turkey

Locked

#1 by admin » Thu Jun 02, 2016 17:20

We were recently advised that Paypal will not longer process payments to those members in Turkey starting on June 6th. In order to make sure all of our members from Turkey are paid we have just completed processing all pending Paypal cashouts to those members in Turkey. We have also removed the Paypal option from any member from Turkey so there are no accidental cashouts to Paypal.

Thank you
Jim

The Turkish Government wants Paypal to establish a local information technology (IT) centre in the country, which spans the border or Europe and the Middle East. But PayPal operates in 203 markets and handles 26 currencies. It prefers to have IT hubs handle responsibilities for several countries instead of local IT centers.

Perhaps PayPal will stick a couple of servers in Turkey at some point in the future, which sounds easy enough. It’s not just physically locating them in Turkey that’s the issue though, it’s having a full security set up (both electronic and physical) to keep the data secure.

Strange move by Turkey considering their deep desire to join the European Union.

It doesn't matter, i suggest you transfer any money you have on your PP account to your bank account.

Nobody has a "deep desire" to join EU per se. EU wants Turkey to stop fighting with PKK and PYD, which have been terrorizing Turkey for many a good years, so as to give Turkish citizens the right to travel around Europe freely. This was one of the "requirements" Turkey had to fulfill.

No, thanks. I don't want to worry about my life everyday here just to be able to travel to Europe without having to get a visa.

Welcome aboard, ours is too. :D

Almost two years ago, PP finally 'came' to our country and our wise leaders decided that they don't have to stick to what was agreed upon, so PP left after only three days.
Mid year, last year, they started acknowledging our country again. But our smarties decided a month ago that it'll be great to charge us additional 20% for actually bringing the money into the country. Cute, aren't they?
