I worked in health care most my life and there is a lot of operations I could perform, if
I had to. That could be an operation I perform on myself or an operation I perform on
a family member or friend.
You might be surprised what you can do if you had to.
Easy when you have studied and worked along side doctors in an ER/OR as RN, otherwise not everyone has the knowledge or studies, and would pick stuff they read online or youtube, not a good thing that's why people study, get certified and practice. The information online does not replace medicine. They act as reference material. Yeah when someone is desperate they would probably end up doing whatever it takes for themselves or loved ones, but not without high risk of complications that mind end up killing you or the person you are trying to help.
So once you pull out your teeth or open your gum and remove your impacted tooth, should you have an infection, who's going to write that prescription for you ? Certainly not you I cannot imagine someone performing an op on themselves and going to their doctors and saying "Hey doc I just operated on myself and need an Rx"
I certainly don't think this is going to be a trend into any near future, too many risks involved. But I do see a future where people will use the internet more and more, and computers in medicine, where people will consult a doctor online through devices used on their computers that measure vitals and other - sending info directly to the doctor, and perhaps other uses like that - different types of health care.
But people operating on themselves - hmm no, I think this would represent only a fraction percentage.
Some people watch too many medical dramas and think they are doctors
