Clowns aren’t supposed to be scary, but for some reason they scare the crap out of people. Blame it on Stephen King, blame it on James Carpenter, the point is, that if an orange haired man wearing bright makeup ask if you’d like to play a game – you’re probably gonna die.

My guitar has always been my fallback. When the worst comes to the worst, I can always stand on a street corner, and people will put some change in my hat. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to play with a guy you won't know because he isn't famous, but is still one of my favourite musicians. A superb fiddle player.

I'm not bad. I've played a few small pubs, and the occasional wedding, but I'm "competent cabaret singer" not "good musician". He is...I don't know why he isn't a famous musician.

But anyway, I got to play with him - and a few other guys, but it was him who carried us. The rest of us were clinging on by the skin of our teeth.

We had an agent, and we got some serious gigs. But our agent had bright ginger hair, pale white skin, a big red alcoholics nose, and it wasn't until I'd started coming home with hundreds of pounds a week that anyone actually believed me - they thought I was telling them a joke they didn't quite get about a clown.

I am not sure if those people were even born when I was a kid.

I think clowns have always had a scariness about them.

If I were going to blame it on anyone for that scariness, I'd have to blame it on those old twilight zone shows.

The fear of clowns, one of the most common phobias, is known as coulrophobia

CLowns didn't creep me out as a kid but as a teenager i saw this documentary about "John Wayne Gacy" aka "Pogo the Clown" and ever since then i viewed Clowns as a synonym of evil.

Pogo the Clown.

Yes Clowns can be scary especially when the Clown is a reality instead of fantasy.
I prefeer my clowns staying in movies and TV series instead of physically in front of me :?

The ones I liked were the knights of Columbus ones
as they rode on their mopeds in the local parades. :D

As I remember my husband told me once that Clowns are a very old image haunting humanity quite for some time. I don't exactly know why. But many people hate clowns because deep inside they still have this "implant" about bad experiences with them or something that "looked" like them. Many children actually have extreme fears of these weird people dressing up with paint on their faces. My husband also was freaked out by them as child and he learned it to be true that there is something about them which is pretty old and ingrained into our souls, which makes many of us afraid of them...

Many years ago as a small child i was sitting on some Santa's lap in some store during christmas shopping together with my parents and i remember Santa looking straight at me with his big fluffy white beard and big twitching nose asking me about what i want for christmas this year. Now even to this day it still creeps me out, does that sound weird ?
I mean what's the difference anyway between a clown and santa, aren't both kinda creepy ?
Just like that red eyed easter bunny hiding his demon spawn colored offsprings once a year

Yes they are all creepy.

I always hated and still do, those dummies. Doesn't really matter what kind of dummy it is.

The difference is, of course, when santa sneaks into Children's bedrooms while they're sleeping and does god knows what while he's in there, he's got the parents fooled too.

Australian News....October 2016
Creepy Clown alert! Everything that appears funny is not necessarily funny! There is a new rising threat to the society. In Australia, many have reported spotting people dressing up as clowns just to scare the public. The issue needs to be addressed immediately to prevent any serious damage.

Australia has been put on high alert after a series of creepy sightings of people in make-up and costumes swept America. The reason for such an eerie prank is still a mystery but one thing is certain: the creepy clown craze has crossed all limits.

Now that the creepy clown craze has spread in Australia, the police department has warned about people “parading in the public wearing clown masks.” Scary creepy clown groups have emerged as a threat on social media, as well. They can go to any extent just to scare the life out of common people.

This creepy clown trend in Australia is highly inspired by a group in the US, who started to frighten the public just for fun’s sake.

I have locked this topic because what sort of started out as a bit of fun, is leaning
on the political/blame side.

Anyone can google 'clowns' and see where clowns originated which relates back
to Scandinavia and Old English times, Shakespeare, etc.

In regards to 'child predators', people wearing 'clown' masks are the least likely
to be feared, in my opinion. The most detrimental child predator may be sitting
across the table smiling at you from your favorite diner. The majority of child
predators is known by the family of the victims....the pastor, the uncle, the aunt,
the babysitter, the teacher, etc.

It's always been known that child predators entice children with candy, smiles,
pets, and yes, even a variety of tricks, masks, and other antics.

Unfortunately, social media and various topics can do more harm than good when
it comes to these types of ploys and conversations in which people want to blame
someone else for the often creepy and diabolical world we live in today.
