Reading todays news...

"Yahoo Confirms Massive Data Breach Of At Least 500 Million User Accounts"

"The account information may have included names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, hashed passwords (the vast majority with bcrypt) and, in some cases, encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers."

"Unprotected passwords," payment account information, and bank account information are unlikely to have been leaked in the breach. However, the company advises that any users who haven't changed their password since 2014 should do so now. It will also notify particular users it believes to be at risk.

Really? What took them so long to crawl out of the woodwork to tell everyone?

Everyone I've spoken to so far is like "Uh...didn't we already know this" but nobody can find a source, so maybe we didn't. Yahoo doesn't have the reputation it once did...

It's been downhill since Jerry Yang stopped being CEO...and to be fair, the plateau was nearing it's end, and everyone could see the descent before then.

I stopped to use all Yahoo services when they closed Yahoo pipe. I was so unhappy...
By the way Yahoo isn't in process to be sold ? The buyer could get a huge discount

I have an account with them for genealogy groups. Haven't been there for 4 years.

I'm not worried about it anyway, since they won't get a cent out of me. I'm broke the day my SS is deposited and I no longer use a credit card. If anything, they might be able to get $1.99 out of my bank account. I don't even have savings anymore since I was down to $.99 and the bank closed it.

That's how it came out - it was part of the disclosure to Verizon.
