I got sticker shock when I saw the price of mayonnaise. Helman's mayo, which is our favorite, was selling for $5.49!!!!! That's crazy! I want to know why it's double the price from 2 months ago.

Needless to say, we didn't buy it. We had tried the cheaper brands before but didn't like them. So I guess we'll have to give up mayo or I'll have to make it from scratch when I need some. At least i'll know what's in it.

I buy Heinz. I use to buy Hellman's but stopped a couple of years ago.

If you try Heinz, I think you will like it better. Hellman's went up in price
and their product became thin. Heinz is thick and it taste just as good if
not better.

Down here in Oz they've started stocking the Heinz "Seriously Good" mayonnaise in the major supermarkets. I'm a convert - refuse to buy any other brand now. Nice & creamy, not too sweet, and a decent price. Yum!

A few years ago I bought a couple of prepper buckets. They were $50 each and if left unopened will be
good for 25 years. I have never opened the buckets. Inside is various food packets. Each bucket will
feed one person for 30 days. I'd say, in getting closer to the date I bought those, was more like 4 years
ago. I bought them on a whim. Since I live in a rural area, I thought they might come in handy some
day. Earthquake, Tornado, or something else.

Well I just now looked to make sure of the exact price. $147.58 each.

They have gone up by $100 per bucket, since I bought them 4 years ago. If that isn't inflation, I
don't know what is.

Where the heck do you live where Hellmann's cost $5.49?
I just quickly googled mayo prices and Hellmann's cost $3.99 at my local supermarkets! And that's Canadian Dollars, so about $3.19 USD.

In B&M Bargains you can get a massive bottle of brown sauce for 89p.

It depends on the size of the jar too, of course. But yeah, Hellman's prices really rose
dramatically beginning several years ago and kept going up from there. I noticed also
a few years ago, the quality had gone way down. Hellman's use to be a very thick mayo.
You could actually take a butter knife, dip it in the jar, and spread it easily on your bread.
Now, it is so thin that if you dip the butter knife, it will slide right off before you can make
it to the bread.

Hellman's actually, as of late, has gone down in price a tad because I suppose they are
losing customers. The prices have been yo-yoing for it.

On walmart dot com for example:

Hellman's 30 oz jar = $4.18
Hellman's 48 oz jar = $5.91

Heinz 30 oz jar = $2.98

That price is pretty high. If you have an Aldi's grocery store near you, look at the prices there. I find great deals there.

Never tried the Heinz, I am going to the grocery store Sunday and I think I'll give it a try...

I haven't seen Heinz. The choices I have are Helman's, Kraft, Duke's and the store brand. They're all up there in price, even Duke's is $3.50.

Duke's is very good mayo.

There's not much of a selection of stores where I live. Walmart's, Dollar Stores, Save-a-lots and that is about it.

I order various products online and I like to keep stocked up on some items simply because
I don't have to bother with them for awhile.

With items such as toilet tissue, paper towels, kleenex, I tend to order the huge bundles and
in sets of three each. That way I am stocked up on them and I don't have to bother with it
for a good while. I really like ordering those large items because I don't need to fil my cart
or vehicle with them. I do the same thing with detergent, cat food for the cats outside, and
lots more.

Same thing with mayo. I'll order 3 jars of it at a time but I do have a tendency to use it
rather quickly. I make salads such as tuna salad, macaroni salad, potato salad and I use
the Heinz mayo in all those dishes.

We have Walmart, Aldi's, Giant, and 2 locals - Boyer's IGA and Redner's Warehouse. I keep forgetting about Aldi's. i used to make my rounds of 3 stores a week and they were first on the list because they were further away. Now that I need a chauffer, I go where he goes.

When i was first unemployed, i used the checks to stock up. It looked like an extreme couponer's basement. Now I'm low on everything except cream soups for casseroles. Oh, well.

Mostly I get my groceries from walmart. There is the DollarGeneral stores just a mile or two
away in either direction and I pick up items there that I may run out of quickly such as bread.

There's also the Save-A-Lot stores not far from the Walmarts and I stock up on some of the
items there such as the 'cream soups', primarily cream of celery soup. Also I buy the large
jars of mild pepper rings there too. I like their crackers and usually buy several box's of those
at a time.

Walmart is just really strange on the shipping and the packaging is usually horrible. Today I
received a box from Walmart that had liquid detergent, batteries, can cat food, and a couple
of febreeze sprays. It came in a nice heavy duty square box with plenty of brown paper on
top and on bottom. That was delivered by way of FedEx. BUT yesterday I actually had to
drive to the post office (only a few miles away) and pick up two box's. One box was HUGE
that had my vegetable oil, tuna, cookies, coffee, coffee filters, and a ton of other stuff...all
in one box with NO paper, NO packaging materials at all. There was a couple of cans of
salmon and those can's were slightly dented. There was also chips and cookies and I have
not opened those yet but if they are not in a lot of crumbs, I will be even more surprised.
The smaller box was packed poorly too. AND that big order came through the postal mail
which you would think if anything came through FedEx it would have been that. Walmart
has the worse packaging and worse shipping as you never know what condition your items
will be in or when you will truly receive them.
