CORS Policy on Chrome

Locked

#1 by wombatqueen » Fri Oct 14, 2016 14:33

Running into an issue on several websites where SOME of the buttons don't work or don't work properly, and after checking the pages with Chrome inspect tool, it will say something like:
"Font from origin 'xxxx' has been blocked from loading by Cross-Origin Resource Sharing policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource. Origin 'xxxx' is therefore not allowed access."
(Slightly different message on some of the sites, don't always refer to a font, but all refer to the CORS policy)

I haven't updated my browser, and I have been able to successfully complete everything on these sites prior to today, so what happened to change things?

Windows 7, Chrome version 53.0.2785.143 if that helps...

Dunno, but I looked at the bug tracker after someone else said it worked for them in the other thread, and found this:

575690 -
`--disable-web-security` works with an empty value for `--user-data-dir` -

chromium -

Monorail

You can probably work around it by adding --disable-web-security --user-data-dir as startup options...I'm not sure exactly how to do that in windows - it's somewhere in the right click menus, I think.

Yes, thank you - :D
I found those options for switches/flags too, as well as another: --allow-file-access-from-files, and I know how to add them.....
(not safe for general browsing, apparently :? )

But I'm still befuddled by why this happened suddenly, with no changes made on my end of things.....

any ideas on this anywhere in your wealth of knowledge?

No.

To be honest, I'm only aware of CORS at all because somebody else fixed one of my bugs a couple of weeks ago.
