Tulips on toast.

Also, I stayed with a friend in Den Bosch a few years ago, and every meal was chips and vodka. I'm not sure that's traditional, though - she's an Aussie, it was her husband who was Dutch.

My sister was 32 before she found out a haggis wasn't an animal. When we were kids, I showed her a picture of an Okapi, and told her that was a haggis. Good choice - I was careful to pick an animal she wasn't likely to run into again for a while.

marcel , yep its so baby red balls of cheese i was refering too,,i just googled the dutch's national dish and this is what it come up with

Stamppot is an old-style Dutch dish. It is made of mashed potatoes mixed with one or more vegetables like kale, carrots, endive or sauerkraut. 'Stamppot' is traditionally served during the winter and enjoyed best with 'rookworst'.

apart from this another search suggested trying Holland's top foods, here they are...

Bitterballen
Stroopwafel
Thick Dutch fries
Raw herring
Kibbeling
Ontbijtkoek
Oliebollen
Indonesian Rijstaffel
Snert
Tompouce

i bet marcel you tried all of em,,any favourite ones?

Don't really have a favorite dish/food as long if it's Meat Free because i don't want any type of animal(including fish) to die or suffer just for me.
I mean why would we do on to them(animals) what we don't want done upon us ?
Did you know that Grain that is being used to feed Livestock marked for slaughter could easily end world hunger.
For real, no nonsense ! Plants could easily feed the entire world, fact.

The strongest man in Germany is a "vegan" and supporter of animal rights.
The strongest man in Germany is VEGAN!

Today i ate fries with ketchup and meat free burgers, yes burgers but meat free and still delicious.

And my blood test results from my last Health checkup are 100% perfect the doctor said today. 8-)

Veganism doesn't make much sense to me.

Chickens lay eggs. They're going to lay eggs whether you gather those eggs or leave them to rot. One could argue that we shouldn't have domesticated them in the first place - and I agree - but we have done now. There's no harm done to any animal by eating an unfertilised egg that couldn't even potentially become an actual chicken...unless you think the chicken was better to have never been born at all.

You can't just eat vegetables and suddenly become automatically ethical - most vegan food is still produced by commercial overfarming which is just terrible for the environment and kills plenty of small mammals and insects in it's own right.

For me, that's inconsistency that can't be rationally defended.

So, I prefer a foragers diet. Eggs are fine, milk isn't. Honey is fine if the hive is left with enough. Potatoes aren't fine if they come from a mass producer.

But at a first approximation, I'm vegan.

Kind of depends on the time of year.

In the winter, I like a good hot soup. I make home made potato soup some times in cold weather
months and like it very well. I make vegetable soup often too.

I guess shrimp is one of my favorite dishes in that I like it most ways. Battered and fried. Steamed
dipped in butter. Coconut batter.

I like potato casserole too that I make. I sliced the potatoes very thin, put in some frozen carrots
and frozen peas, onions, milk, and some times fake meat and then top heavily with shredded cheese.

I like green salads. Cole slaw.
