One thing would help a lot,be more strict about the whole Only English rule .

Will make my job easier, just relaxing and zipping my coffee. Instead of cleaning up all the crap..but I guess that is too much to ask for..maybe I should ask Santa

There are plenty of places that have quizzes you need to pass before you're allowed to post on the forum.

Like, the difference between your and you're, and the difference between there, they're and their. They do tend to be higher quality forums. Sometimes, they're unfair to non-native speakers, but that's easily solved with a checkbox for "English is my second language".

It's not so much the test that does it, it's the extra effort. The problems faced by communication platforms is rarely "everyone is stupid", and far more commonly "everyone is lazy". Adding a quick, simple test gives you a self-selecting community of people who will read the FAQ and search the forum first.

And to and too, and the ever-increasing use of apostrophes where they have no business being used, and....and....

And the lack of a serial comma. Seriously, why does nobody other than me use a serial comma these days?

I do, although I have to admit I've gotten lazier about it since I rarely see it used anywhere, by anyone.....
I used to REALLY be a stickler for all things spelling, grammar, and punctuation....(very annoying to others!)

BUT - nobody seems to care about any of it these days, as you see total butchering of it all in the news, in major advertising, and really - just everywhere.

GRRRRR!

I try to punctuate the way I speak, rather than as I should punctuate in written text. I suppose I'm equally annoying - because I often run out of punctuation marks to use, long before I should have used any at all.

So....what is the deal with the growing misconception that plurals require an apostrophe?

Like:
idea's
open Sunday's
we fix PC's
mystery novel’s
appetizer's

wtf? :?

Well, grammar is the difference between knowing your shit, and knowing you're shit. Perhaps they're just confessing.
