No, we waste our lives clicking ads for crappy binary options trading, completing tasks written by incompetent fools, and completing endless surveys that screen out after twenty minutes because we enjoy being taken advantage of. The money doesn't come into it, it's all about the sport.

Yes, waiting on an epipheny from heaven to show me how to become a millionaire on Clixsense. Mostly just avoiding the dreaded office cubicle. Some things just aren't worth the money.

Money truly is not everything and in fact, very far from something.

I was watching a program just last night about an older couple. They were not old old.
They weren't retired. I'd say they were probably in their late 50's. She was previously
a vice president of a bank. Her husband was further up the ladder in something else.

They both quit their jobs to work summers at DollyWorld in Tennessee. I think it was
DollyWorld....one of those amusement areas up in the mountains.

Anyway, they work in dinning booth, serving hamburgers and such, for 6 hours per
day in the summer months only.

They live in a nice RV.

Why did they settle for far far far less money?

The reason is very simple. They wanted to live a life.

Before, when they worked in their high paying jobs, they worked many hours, seldom
saw the other, and was not having much time to enjoy life.

They decided to settle for less money and have a life.

So now they live in a very nice RV, only work 6 hours a day in the summer months BUT
they have a lot of fun, enjoy friends at the RV, make enough money to last them through
the winter months, and can of course drive off any time they want to.

Unfortunately, we don't live very long and here only once. I think often people don't really
think about their short time. Even many millionaires work most of their day and I guess
that is what their enjoyment is.....making money.

Money really is far from something.

money is a must to live a normal, satisfactory life,in that you have all the basics to keep you going, then you got the desire and yearn for things you would like to have, the'inordinate desire', things you want but don't need...........this can be over whelming for many people..

once you pass that stage your ego gets the better of you and you want more and more..that's where greed comes in.

i am not rich,i would say i could be better, but i am content more or less,i have a roof over my head, clothes over my body, food in my belly and something to cuddle up to at night ;) i cant afford a water bottle :D

some people are never satisfied and then there are those that strive to make ends meet..really we should appreciate what we have and spend that hard earnt cash oh so very wisely,,,spend as much time as you can with your loved ones coz that's one thing that is limited and will never come again.

regret is one thing ,a bank balance is another

If money was abolished tomorrow, I'd be fine. I'd struggle a bit - my potato crop just failed - and I'd lose the same luxuries as the rest of you, but I didn't fall into the specialisation trap, and I'd be fine. We've had these discussions a few times, and a surprising number of people here would be fine too.

Heating would be the major problem. Generations of deforestation have made renewable heating somewhat difficult to come by. You can't generate enough electricity for electric heating in winter, even with a combination of solar, wind and man power. There is only one way to do it realistically.

What was true for our ancestors is true for us today: he who controls his fire controls his future.

I think that has a little bit to do with where you live.

For example, I could live the rest of my life without electricity because I have woods on my
property. In fact, I have wood right now that I have offered to several people and no one
has wanted it. I am getting ready to call the Mennonites in my area to see if they want it.
I recently had a few trees chopped down due to fear they would fall across my driveway.
Now I have large chunks of wood that are too heavy for me to handle. In my woods, I have
various fallen trees and plenty of trees that I could of course cut for firewood, cooking, etc.

There are plenty of places in the world that one would most likely not need fire for warmth.
Southern states, Tropics, Warm continents, etc.

People really wouldn't need fire for cooking IF they live in an area in which they have the
access to raw foods or can grow raw foods. Raw veggie diet. Of course people need a little
protein so there would need to be some beans or some such as that on the plate. I don't
think I would want to eat raw beans.

Yeah, completely.

I don't mean it can't be done in principle, I mean it can't be done by you in your back garden in the North of England. If you lived somewhere with more winter sun, even normal leisure solar panels might be enough.

There are woods round here, but not enough to sustain us...my household, yes, but not the village.

There's probably a lot of solutions out there that we don't know about because the
powers that be don't want us to know about them.

It is rather amazing tho, what a person can do if they have to.
