The woodpecker can be explained a lot more simply by evolution than it can by design.

One could argue natural selection is design. Sure, a blind, crude, design by trial and error, but design nevertheless.

When folk say "couldn't possibly have evolved", they generally mean "couldn't have come into existence by chance alone", which is blindingly, crashingly obvious to anyone. Somehow, the randomness of mutation has taken all the limelight, and the decidedly non-randomness of natural selection has escaped the public consciousness.

I honestly think humans gets so hung up on living forever because we feel like we don’t have enough time. We think that one lifetime just isn’t enough. We cling to the idea of eternity because it feels secure. I’ve had that same feeling multiple times during this finite life though. Have you ever felt the embrace of a loved one who kindly whispered to you, “You’re safe now” or “You don’t have to be afraid ever again”? In that moment you didn’t need reassurance that trillions of years would pass without a moment of discomfort. We can experience the miracle of that moment in the temporal way it was meant to be felt, eternity or not. I think many of us equate Heaven with such a feeling, like a hug that’s waiting for us on the other side to say that everything will be okay, the pain is over, you’re safe now. Who wouldn’t want that?

I don’t ridicule the idea of Heaven in general, or think those who seek it are merely small people looking for a way to cope with the fear of death. I do, however, believe that Heaven isn’t cheap. It goes much further than the superficial themes of pleasure and reward. Heaven is when you carry your kid on your shoulders after a sports game on the way back to your car. Heaven is when you walk across the stage to take your diploma from the president of the university. Heaven is emerging from poverty, or lowering ladders for others to climb out. It is a baby’s laughter, a negative cancer screening, or marriage vows renewed.

No, I do not believe what we seek is life eternal. We simply want to leave here on our terms, when we are good and ready. Are you ready to die? It’s okay if you’re not. Just stop waiting for Heaven.

Wow, you'd be welcome as an equal in my Grumpy Old Git's club any time, Rajukurup.

(I can't decide if that apostrophe is right or not. I can't decide if it's possessive or plural).

What makes you think the universe has been here billions of years?

I have always found that kind of funny that people believe in theories and believe in what
they read and/or believe what they hear or believe what they watch.

What's on the other side of our universe?

It's good people become educated, study, read, look at the never ending amount of theories out there.

However, there is a little something called 'experience'.

You can read, watch a movie, listen to a song you like, all those things that have baring on the way you
think. None of that matters. Wouldn't you agree none of it matters?

Think of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. He did not know anything except what he thought and what he theorized
and what he read. It wasn't til he drank the potion that he experienced.

Same goes with many things in life. Someone may tell you something but until you experience it for
yourself, you don't know. Like someone mentioned a 'toaster'. You might be told how the toaster works,
but until you use the toaster your self, you will not know the reality of it because you did not experience it.

Why is it that there are people that do not believe in design and creation? After all, we can look at the
new printers today. They can print out almost anything. Look at the labs that are working on using a
printing system to create body parts. If we as human's can design and create, what makes you think
that this earth was not created, that man was not created, that all that exists is not designed and not
created. That there is a creator greater than us, more knowledgeable than us, that designed and created?

I know the creator exists because i have experienced. Just like others that have experienced the creator.
We know. Just like you may know your toaster works due to your experience. We know our creator
exists because we have experienced.

It's like a nearsighted person going to class, sitting at the back of the room and not seeing anything
the professor writes on the board. You're too far away.

well written valerie i agree with you totally here,,some people cannot think to that level that us girls can,,,i knew the male race was kinda weak in that sense

when you are young, you see life differently, everything seems so unimportant and frivolous,,,,,,,,,,, but as you get older and learn to live, accept responsibility you understand the true meaning of life...your perspective of live becomes more different, more kinda tailored to your own experiences if that makes any kinda sense i guess.

how scientists can claim that the earth is so and so billions of years old is beyond me,its ludicrous,,this big bang theory is another joke, darwin's theory of evolution an even bigger joke,,,a theory is just a theory and if it were true why are we not still evolving?
why is it that just man has evolved and nothing else? kinda strange that...

anyway what lies beyond remains to be seen when we eventually get there, nearly all religions believe in the afterlife, after all billions of people still have faith and believe in their scriptures of all the divine religions of the world.

What everyone else thinks or feels about this subject well that is al in the eye of the beholder.

yep you are right marcel i agree with you,,everyone has different views on it,but fundamentally, the majority of humans on this earth believe in some kind of afterlife, its sad to kinda think this is just it,even that hope keeps alot of us going i guess.

some people are just so peed off with their lives that they really dismiss the idea of anything beyond this life which i understand,
btw i know you are a ladies man,so whatever i say its all in good faith ;)
