Times have always changed and people change with it.

I think it is a pretty cool idea. Not sure how well that will catch on but could become a big hit.
I'd probably spend more than I would normally.

Well I suppose there are issues with phone loss now. I guess they might have secret codes or some
such, like an app, I think it displays in the video, you have to open it, log in, etc. Codes get broken
though. I guess it's just like a person's checkbook, you make sure you hang on to it.

So everything you ever buy, along with the location, and time you buy it is all logged forever, and because it's internet based, stored by your government indefinitely, during this time of right wing populists gaining power across the western world, in exchange for saving a few seconds - and it is a few seconds, because for all but the smallest shops, you're still going to have to stop to bag up your shopping from your basket/trolley - at the checkout.

What could possibly go wrong.

Amazon just need put rfid chips in your hand or neck. You don't need bring your smartphone to pay your item at all.

Million people will lose their jobs due this type of technology. I would boycott it because millions people will end up homeless and cause huge riot to fight against machine.

A lot of fast food going to do kios order.

Adi grocery store from Germany. You pay a quarter for a cart and you have to do your own self checkout. No needed need cashier, people push cart.

People don't want to interact another human. It's like the back to the future 2 predict.

These unemployment will end up making money online like Clixsense and other gpt sites, freelance and more.

True that. They opened one near me the other week, and I went there on the opening night...riding into the car park, I was delighted to find proper cycle parking, but I wasn't sure it was really open. Massive car park, just me in it.

I made one of those once too. Years ago, I was homeless and selling The Big Issue for a bit, and one of my regulars was a drama student who wanted to make a sitcom, and I was in it - as writer, and actor. He played a waiter in a cafe permanently off his head on acid, hallucinating all the time, and I played a cynical, miserable git of a customer - similar to Jack Dee.

We did send it in to that BBC 3 talent thing they used to do, but we weren't one of the winners, so it never aired.

This topic made me think of 'Service Merchandise'. I am not sure if they are in business any longer.
Years ago they did very well, even had large catalogs that people could order from.

The way Service Merchandise worked is, you walk in the store and look at the items. Household goods,
etc. Beside each item was a set of cards. Say you saw a toaster for $20. You could look at it, read about
it and then if you wanted it, you would either take a card from the card slot by the toaster or you would
simply write down the product number. You would do all your shopping in the store like that. When you
finished, you would take the numbers to the check out area. They would tally your order, you would pay
and get a receipt, and then wait for your items to be brought to you.

I guess the main idea of Service Merchandise was they didn't need to pay for shopping carts. They
didn't need to pay people to constantly stock the shelves. They didn't lose money from theft like
many stores....after all, all they would have is ONE item on the shelf of each product.

They seemed to focus more and more on jewelry.

One thing that I really liked about Service Merchandise and that is, everybody wasn't touching and
sneezing on the product you bought. It was all warehoused in the back.

So that is still the problem I see with Amazon's Go store. People can pick items up, sneeze on them
and put them back on the shelf.

When I am getting groceries, or most anything for that matter, I try not to touch things unless I am
seriously interested in it. When I get home with my groceries, I wipe the items down before I shelve
them in my cabinets and fridge. I always wash cans off before I open them.

I Don't know if Amazon Go will fly but like David, I sure see where it is leading.

I did see the article and the first Amazon store to do this try out is in Seatle
about 2,5 hrs south of us. It will cause a lot of cashiers to be laid off if that
would become the norm.
