Annoying catch words/phrases

Similar to miss valerie's post on hated abbreviations....

I detest most of the stupid catch words and phrases that are used by the masses today.

Like:
"CLOSURE"......what the heck did people do before they had this word to abuse??

And "positively CRAY CRAY".....grrrrrrrrr! My fur is standing up.

"In my wheelhouse"........What the heck? Does anyone here have a wheelhouse??

"Reach out to"....Grrrrrr again! say CONTACT or call or whatever.

"It is what it is".

"Game-changer"

"On my radar"

I hate some of the actions that go along with words.

I hate when people take their hands up and do the little finger thing when they say 'quote'.

I hate when people take their hand and make a phone by their ear and mouth the words 'call me'.

Ya, it makes you want to be mean......

What ya mean on your radar, who gives a flying about your radar, who ya think ya are, a gps,
ya got an antennae coming out of your A?

YESSSssss!! The "quotey fingers" thing especially.

And what the frig does "She's a hot mess" mean??
What IS a hot mess? (Although, I admit I may have cooked one on an occasion or two, maybe)

Ya, I am rather sure a hot mess is when you boil beans until they scorch and you feed them to
your family anyway and your family is hungry so they take a big bite and it burns their tongue
and it tastes horrible because it is scorched and they say THAT'S A HOT MESS! That's what that
means.

A COLD MESS would be when you eat ice cream real fast because you're really hungry and so you
drip ice cream all over your face and clothes and stuff.

You might be right!

Me...I have an unhealthy fascination with him.....

I am trying to figure out what's REALLY under that perpetually cheerful exterior. Because i know that NOBODY can be always that darn bubbly....

NOT really an annoying saying, or action, but.....

WHY are pants worn with the waist down at bottom of buttcheeks, and many inches of big fluffy undies showing over the top of the pants??
Why is this considered to be a good look by anyone? I don't get it.

I think it mainly started around the time 'rap' became popular. Some may disagree with me but I do
believe much of it started in inner cities like Detroit among gang members. I think it was kind of a
way to display their disagreement with authority.

The quickest way to make me ignore everything someone just said or wrote is for them to add "just sayin'".

To me it means that they have no real belief or confidence in what they have just opined, so why should I take them seriously? Sort of like saying "I know my opinion doesn't matter, and I probably don't know much about the subject, but here's my five-cents worth anyway".

And also...

I hate it when I say "And also..". And furthermore, and in conjunction, I don't know why I started doing it, but I hate it, and I can't stop doing it.

I can't stop saying 'However' and my word for this month is 'Lame'.

Every time the local news guy comes on tv, he has the same tie on and I say 'he is so lame'.

I'll be watching a movie and I will say 'that is so lame'.

I got a message at Facebook yesterday and the guy said I had won 400 million dollars and
I told him, he was very lame and however, down right stupid.

Useless adjectives, especially in news reports that nowadays have to include "unimaginable" or "unbearable" every single time they mention the words "grief" or "tragedy". As in: "Now the family members are left to deal with the unbearable grief of this unimaginable tragedy". One news channel in Sydney has a couple of young reporters who uses a variation of that line at least 3 times a week. You don't need to add adjectives to every single noun. Grief is grief & a tragedy is a tragedy. They don't need further embellishment.

I guess that when you say that, you must be talking to Bo and/or Boogie, because I know you would never talk to yourself, and most certainly not to the tv.

Or the speaker might not think that what they're saying will change the outcome of something or the mind of the person they're talking to. Or they might want to tone down the aggressiveness of their speech or to try to avoid confrontation.

"Git 'er done".....there's one that was NEVER over-used, right? HA!!
And it refused (refuses?) to die....some people still use it like they think you never heard it before.
