No, I took biology.

I work in tech, but I'm self taught. I'm probably one of the youngest, but I'm part of the self-taught 8-bit hobbyists generation.

Robin Hood's Bay is pretty near here (about an hours drive). There's a castle in the nearest city, with bridges, and a moat (albeit, now without any water, and paved). Not so many ladies though.

I did go to university, I just didn't go to that University.

I went to Sussex instead. Less reputable, but they had the man who made me fall in love with the subject in the first place.

OK, since I was right there helping steer this topic that valerie started WAY off course, I'm going to try and point it back in the right direction.

Favorite cookie recipe:

Brach's Chocolate Star Cookies (aka sometimes as Thumbprint Cookies )
INGREDIENTS:
1 c Butter
1 c sugar
1⁄2 c brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 T water
1 tsp vanilla
3 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1⁄2 tsp salt
1⁄2 c peanut butter
48 Brach's chocolate stars (can also use Hershey's kisses)

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 375°.
In a large mixing bowl, beat together Crisco, sugar, brown sugar, eggs, water and vanilla until well mixed.
Add the flour, baking soda, salt, & peanut butter to the mixing bowl and mix well.
Cover and refrigerate dough for 30 minutes.
Roll dough into 1-inch balls. (Can also roll each ball LIGHTLY in sugar, if desired). Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Place in preheated oven and bake for 9-11 minutes or until light brown.
As soon as you remove the cookies from the oven, place a chocolate star/kiss on the top of each cookie.

Here's another really easy recipe, that's a favorite with most kids and one they can easily help with.

Chocolate/Butterscotch Haystacks
INGREDIENTS:
2 c (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
1 package (10 to 11 oz) butterscotch chips
4 c crispy chow mein noodles

DIRECTIONS:
Melt chocolate and butterscotch bits in a double boiler or large metal bowl over simmering water; stir until smooth. Gently stir in chow mein noodles.
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Refrigerate 10-15 minutes or until set. Yield: 3 dozen.

**NOTE:** You can also add chopped peanuts to this, if desired, simply replace 1 to 1.5 cups of the chow mein noodles with an equal amount of chopped peanuts.

Here's a really easy recipe if you want to serve a hot drink that is non-alcoholic.

Super Easy Cranberry Apple Red Hots Cider

Ingredients
6 c apple juice
4 c cranberry juice
1 c Red Hots candies (aka sometimes as Cinnamon Imps)
1 cinnamon stick

Instructions
Place all ingredients in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for at least 2 hours, or until warmed through, stirring occasionally.

You can cut back on the Red Hots a little, if worried about too much cinnamon flavor,
If the Red Hots leave a bit of residue floating on top of the cider, just skim it off with a fine mesh strainer.

Graham crackers (or cinnamon grahams) with peanut butter, sliced (or smashed) bananas, REAL maple syrup.

Also good with that whipped marshmallow stuff on 'em.

Extra nummy if you toast it under broiler just til it starts to brown!
