Eating Tarantulas

Locked

#1 by lotoole » Tue Feb 21, 2017 14:15

Let's get down to the topics that really matter. I watched Angelina Jolie on TV last night preparing scorpions, cockroaches and tarantulas - and eating them. No, this wasn't a movie. This was an ET special showing her in a foreign country going native.

I had to change the channel. Gentlemen, what do you think? Could you kiss someone who eats tarantulas?

She is a weirdo.

You know what? I truly dislike the way young people are so influenced by actors. Just because
an actor is an actor, does not mean they are smart or know the world.

Creatures carry diseases. This is why in poverty stricken areas in many countries, people are
so sick. Anyone with half a brain would know that eating cockroaches is not a good idea.

If you are hungry and have nothing to eat, I suppose most people will eat just about anything
to stay alive. To me, that is a self preservation strategy, to say the least.

However, if you are someone such as her, she has too much money and yet she is eating insects!
I find it not only repulsive but very immoral. The people, or at least many people that eat that
stuff is simply hungry. There are people that are delusional and believe that those things carry
some sort of health benefits if they eat them and nothing could be further from the truth.

I think I could try some insects. Kissing someone who eats Tarantulas, not sure, she will need to wash her mounth with concentrated bleach

Quote:and adults of certain insects have been eaten by humans from prehistoric times to the present day.[1]

Human insect-eating is common to cultures in most parts of the world, including North, Central, and South America; and Africa, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Over 1,000 species of insects are known to be eaten in 80% of the world's nations.[2] The total number of ethnic groups recorded to practice entomophagy is around 3,000

When I was in my wild twenties (around 1987), a few work colleagues & I rented a holiday house on the coast for a long weekend. Quite a bit of alcohol was consumed over the 3 days, and on the Saturday night I finished up (voluntarily) eating a live full-sized cockroach & 2 big, fat bogong moths.

The secret is not to chew, and have a full beer next to you so you can wash the whole thing down in one or two gulps.

I didn't get sick. After all, they are non-venomous & just another form of animal protein. Haven't done the trick again since then though. Have found better squishy things to eat when drinking (such as cooked squid aka calamari).

Cockroaches may spread a range of diseases. It is believed that the cockroach may be a reservoir for a range of bacteria including salmonella, staphylococcus and streptococcus. The cockroach can also harbour viruses such as the polio virus.

Don't be fooled. I worked in health care for many years and I have seen people get very sick
on less.

Cockroaches can also trigger asthma and other allergies as well as spread E.coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus.

I guess I should add a health & safety warning to my post. The silly stuff we do when we are young & have a few beers (and scotches, and bourbons, and ports) under our belt.

The good news is that I haven't (knowingly) consumed any insects or vermin since then. Though I did ignore the 5 second rule about an hour ago when making lunch. A piece of tuna from the tin dropped onto the kitchen floor & it went straight back into the can from which it came.

I'm with you, Valerie! I raised two sons and always told them to find their heroes closer to home,,like friends and relatives who had accomplished "real" things in life! People need to impress on their children that the people in "Follywood" are actor and that is how they make their living. It's all make believe! 8-) :kitty:

I'll take Jolie to a Lohan or Kartrashian anytime. I've also watch Andrew Zimmern for years and he isn't dead yet.

When you compare with what the food industry is selling us, I wonder what is the worst.

I don't have time to visit that right now but just wanted to say, the topic wasn't about comparing
foods. At least I don't think it was.

I don't care what other people eat. If they want to risk their lives on eating insects and garbage,
that is their choice. HOWEVER and it is a BIG HOWEVER, it is the average income person that PAYS
for their idiocies. It is only one small reason why health insurance rates skyrocket.

Perhaps some day people will discover that taking responsibility for what they do and what they put
in to their bodies truly is the big reason for what kills them.

It is a scientific fact today, more recently discovered due to DNA. that only 5% of genetics is related
to health diseases. That leaves us with 95% of our health issues, related to what we do to ourselves.
Such as:

-Eating red meat
-Eating meats from animals that have ingested hormones and unatural feeds
-Eating fruits and vegetables grown in chemical laced dirts
-Eating too much food period resulting in obesity which also results in many diseases such as diabetes
-Eating too much processed foods and sugars
-Eating artificial foods such as sugars
-Consuming unfiltered water that has various chemicals and bacterias

I could go on. We all know these things. Does that mean it is of for me to buy some cockroaches to
eat? Why heck no! Yall can say this person did it and that person did it etc. Well I watched a video
of a young woman hanging off a high rise just so she could gain attention. You gonna go do that too?

So just know, do what you want. But I am telling you, eating cockroaches is NOT a good idea. :silent:
