Slightly OT, but anyone else ever noticed that the only people who, in modern times, still use honorifics in their emails (titles such as Mister, Miss, Esquire) or Mrs followed by the (always deceased) husband's entire name (such as Mrs Benjamin David Smith) seem to be scammers? Like they are using century-old British etiquette books from the days when the sun never set on the Empire to format their messages?

And the same applies to the grammar - extremely formal, and very, very old-fashioned. Instantly gets the alarm bells ringing.

While it looks awful, it's tactical. Anyone who would overlook the grammar probably isn't the brightest and is therefore a better target for the scam
