my time in England is almost at an end, infact i was supposed to travel on tuesday gone but due to being ill i had to cancel my flight and will rebook again once i am all fine and chirpy again.

I'm glad you are feeling better. Nothing worse than being sick.

This year I did take the flu shot. I probably wouldn't have except I was in the hospital with
that gallbladder surgery and they kept pressing I take it so I did. Maybe my taking it was a
good thing because shortly thereafter, everyone around here seemed to have the flu....schools
were even closed for a few days but I never got sick at all.

I worked in health care for many years and I rarely if ever got sick from anything. I equated
that to being immune to sickness since I was around sick people daily.

What did you say your husband does? I think you said some kind of work he does that takes
you from your main country to the UK.

thanks for your kind words Valerie ;)

yep my hubby is a computer programmer, basically he does everything from building a computer from scratch to working on programmes, software etc, i just know the very basics, switching on a lap and logging in or out,,jokes aside i know a fair bit too,but not really my scene,i am a pastry chef by trade, specialize in beskope cakes,ie weddings ,special themed cakes, infact you name it i can make it ;)

one day i will make a cake based on this site too.

actually Valerie i was born in the UK but moved to pakistan about 12 years ago purely work related at the time, then i met my hubby through work and now i come and go as i please but base and headquarters are in Pakistan for the time being.
With England leaving the EU there's not much point staying here really coz from what i have been seeing on the news for the past 4 months of being here, everything just seems to be going downhill and before i reach the shores too i just wanna be back where i am more relaxed and tension free!

Hello Pindo,

Nice to know you are back on your feet. It could be traumatic - being sick that is.

Take good care of yourself.

I would definitely reduce the vitamin C down to one tablet as 3 tablets plus the vitamin C in the multivitamins plus the vitamin C in the horseradish would put you well over the maximum tolerable intake of 2000mg a day.

Quote:Yes, it's possible to take too much vitamin C. Since vitamin C is water-soluble (excess amounts are excreted and do not accumulate in the body), people sometimes assume there is no harm in taking large doses. However, there are potential short-term and long-term problems with taking high doses (500 to 1,000 mg per day) or very high doses (more than 2,000 mg per day) of vitamin C.

Very high doses of vitamin C are known to cause gastric discomfort and diarrhea, and this is the basis for the current upper tolerable daily intake limit of 2,000 mg for adults.

More limited, but concerning, evidence suggests problems with daily doses of just 500 to 1,000 mg of vitamin C. (Keep in mind that the recommended daily intake of vitamin C for adults is only 75 mg to 120 mg, with an additional 35 mg for smokers -- see the RDAs for details).

Wouldn't be much fun having the flu on top of the trots. Coughing or sneezing would become quite a terrifying experience

So glad you are feeling better. I think if you travel a lot, you're more likely to become ill due to immersion in the human bacterial pool called an airplane! I always get sick when I travel.

So you're a pastry chef? Everyone should have a friend who is a pastry chef! What is your favorite pastry to prepare?
