i live in india and i got nothing do with those indifferent ads..

i hate ads full stop :(

whether they are on the t.v,the radio, the internet,on billboards,,anywhere i just hate ads.................thing is if you want to find out about something you do research, ask, not have it shoved in your face left, right and centre.

well this is my opinion, worse ads are the repetitive ones on the t.v...grrrrrrrrrrr..........you just wanna get back to watching that awesome film ASAP

I like ads. I've always liked them. Even as a kid I liked them.

Ads make the world go round.

I don't like an over abundant amount of ads and I think that has gotten to be an issue online
as well as offline.

I think that has been one big downfall in the USA in regards to television. They use to show
one commercial that lasted at the most 30 to 60 seconds and then back to the 30 minute
program and then maybe one more towards the end.

Now they want to show ten commercials that last longer than the program. That is a big
part of the reason tv is losing it's subscribers.

networks, but are also the reason I watch very

Just wondering valerie - what sort of ads do they fill US TV with these days? Down here our TV stations are crying poor, and the most prominent advertising is online bookmakers (gambling), which has made watching TV so unbearable that I rarely switch on my favorite sports (NRL & AFL) anymore. I now record most other shows on a USB stick (got to buy a HDD recorder soon - USBs aren't good for recording big files over & over) & watch them later so I can skip past the ads touting for me to gamble my money on the next points-scorer or whatever. Even my Mum, who loves her AFL (Aussie rules football) & has watched the Sydney Swans games for decades said to me during the week she has switched off this year because of the in-your-face gambling ads.

But I remember reading many years ago that this sort of spruiking of gambling is not permitted in the USA, so how do your stations make money? The only thing I could imagine is that things might be easier because your much larger population means advertisers will pay more for a spot on TV, or maybe the gambling ads are replaced by prescription pharmaceutical advertising (which is legal in the USA but not in Australia).

Whatever, the TV networks seem to be shooting themselves in the foot with the very poor quality commercials they show nowadays.

Lots of booze commercials over here in the US. Along with candy, cars, insurance and so much more. Even under wear commercials.

Gambling commercial's are out of control, Nearly 80% of the entire ads are about sports-betting or casino gambling (Uuugh)

And those stereotypes they use  , Rest of the commercials are for loaning companies, Makes sense cause they gambled all their money away :D

One should think that it's exactly what the government want's, People with debt works harder to pay it off, Then they can take a new loan to pay of the other one.

Round and round it goes.

I rarely see commercials about booze.

A lot of the commercials are focused on health. Many pharmaceutical commercials.
It's a hodge podge of most everything. Department store commercials, automobiles,
tech, new movie, etc etc etc and on and on and on and on.

PS. We don't have gambling commercials on tv but rarely and most of what there is
is to play the state lottery or to visit a casino river boat.

Really?, Are Gambling commercials on tv not legal in the states :?:

In Danish tv, Nearly the whole commercial block is about Sportsbetting or casino's, And i'm not even exxagerating.

Gambling is illegal in many USA States. I guess most States have their own State lottery but not all.

They have some strange laws in regards to gambling.

For example, some States allow gambling on WATER but not on the land.

Metropolis, Illinois, for example.......yes it is known as the home of Superman  they have
the 'Merv Griffin RiverBoat Casino'. I've gone on that several times. You get on the boat and there is
three decks of gambling rooms with bars (booze). It stays out for 2 or 3 hours at a time. Gambling
does not start until the boat leaves the dock.

Tunica, Mississippi is a hot spot. There is casinos all along the river and various hotels.

Las Vega, Nevada, of course is the big one. Most everything is legal there. Sin City.

There is a lot of gambling in the USA but as I stated, with the exception of Nevada, most are on water
or near water.

theres alot of bookies, casinos in England,,,alot of advertising is focused on these ,i mean not really a good thing to be advertising on t.v when so many people are struggling...followed by loan and credit companies to help you out when you lose haha,,,

2 types of people go to casinos or gamble,,,the rich who just want to have a good time and got nothing better to do with their money and the not so rich ones that just try their luck to make a few more bucks...at the end of the day its a 50/50 chance and these casinos will always win eventually.
