We vote if progress is good or bad

Bad , progress destroyed a planet in just 5 million years

In next 50 years nothing will be left on this rock

In many ways, progress means prosperity and is the core of our society. Although this prosperity has a bad side because come with the destruction of unique environments and the demise of many ethnics. All progress need natural resources in order to improve the system, destroying the main habitats of every animal and plant in the zone. Sometimes the advance carry the demise of different ethnics making them uniformity. Changing every culture and language. Every difference from a road is a bad sign.
Our well-being is important, nowadays we have computers, televisions, smarthphones and every new gadget that our progress invents. But this progress has the bad side. The waste increasing in an alarming rate. Many countries in Africa are the gargabe dump because of our progress. For example, I watched a documentary that showed how the electronic garbage is throwed in a African river.
Furthermore, our world have suffered many imperiums that tried to conquer every piece of land. In the process, these imperiums demised different types of ethnics and make societies uniformed. Although it is true that these conquerors bring progress and improve the well-being of their conquest people. For instance, Romans conquered almost all Europe and they killed many differents ethnics although they bring a lot of new advances as the aquedects or the roads.
In addition, we had a very beautiful world, many different habitats that in these days do not exist. Why? Because of the progress, that progress which many economists say that only has benefits. Thousands of species and ecosystems do not support that affirmation. In other words, we are destroying our environment in order to improve our well-being. A well-being that in a century maybe does not exist. For instance, China is producing almost all the gagdets that we enjoy using such as laptops, smarthphones and television, but they are polluting their land, their rivers and their air.
To summarize, progress is a beautiful word, but not every progress is good. How it is going to be progress destroy our world and waste our natural resources. Furthermore, we are not going to leave anything to save to our heirs. Our children will look our past and they will blame us for be so egoist. I do not think that progress is always good, because with every step in the name of progress we are nearer our end.

Tasman , nice speach . But it goes against your other topic about if laws are needed . Garbage are only dumped in rivers etc in countries where it is legal by law . Other countries do not export their own garbage out of the country and dump it . It is being done by disposal compagnies that is getting paid for disposing of it . It is all a matter of laws or rather missing laws .

Progress is good, the problem is, of course, one man's progress is another man's regression. Most of what gets called progress today is progress for the few, and regression for the many.

Dont take it that hard Tasman . It is first inside the last 40 years recycling stations etc have been made in Denmark . Before that many places here in the country was floated with same type of garbage piles mostly hidden away behind some trees and bushes were people didn`t see who deloaded it . Today it is almost cleaned up everywhere . ;)

That's ridiculous, of course you can. I hate to quote Steve Jobs because I really dislike him in more ways than I can even begin to express, but he was right about one thing: Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.

I dont know what people understand by progress in some places in our country, I stay in a city which is 30 years old it used be cultivated land government bought it from the farmers and sold it to devlopers it is supposed to be a planned city by the government planning commission, they call it a mega city, cyber city, skyscrapers all around and one can buy their own land and build individual houses villas just because its a new city everything looks great but it isnt, cops are used to sleeping because it was a backward district so even now you dont find cops on the road so you can do anything break traffic lights knock someone down with your car and get away at night you could bang someone the person dies no one ever knows who did it,its as easy as that, there is no sewage system, sewage oozing out everywhere, when it rains its hell in other words politicians say its better than Singapore but the system has broken down, the place is in caos, actually this place was developed to be a economic corridor for the area around maybe it has worked in that sence but diffinetly not a place to live I need to runaway from here.

We got an area here were a developer went broke many years ago left a lot of half finished expencive beach cottages . They have been unsellable untill now and the area have been standing like a deserted ghost town and the half finished houses are now only ruins that should have been torn back down . This kind of progress is sure a major step in the wrong directtion .

Greed is the answer Pindo . Pure and simple . It was discussed here in the country if it was rentable to recycle newspapers and scrap electronic junk etc . The answer turned out to be yes . Those recycling stations we got employ a lot of people and run with a small profit . many of those recycling stations also contain second hand stores selling better end items that just was trown away due to they were not needed anymore to very cheap prices . It is just a matter of presenting the idea the right way . ;)

Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi on the peacefulside, and Genghis Khan and Ragnar Lodbrok on the not so peaceful side.

Do you think they acted alone? Of course not. What they're really famous for is simply convincing other people to work with them.

I'm not saying it's easy, and I'm not saying you know where to start. I've wasted the last decade or so fighting technology wars, and largely losing...but even while w're losing, we've got a community numbering in the tens of thousands, and while we're still not a patch on the Googles and Facebooks of the world, we're making a real difference in real people's lives.

More recently, you've heard me talk of taking back Jorvik. I'm serious...or at least, half serious. I don't necessarily want Jorvik, but I WILL have my own off-grid community, and it will be independent and libertarian. You know what the difference between me and you is? It's not that I'm better than you, it's very simply that I think I can do it, and you think you can't. And as somebody who I don't know who it was said, whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right.
