You may have heard me speak, in the forum, of axes, and crossbows, and such things.
The truth is, I'd never really use them, not until the apocalypse comes anyway - but as long as people think I will....
Just something to consider.

Quote:Filing Charges
If you know who is responsible for harming your animal companion, go to your local courthouse and file a small claims suit (no attorney is needed). Although it’s difficult to put a monetary value on an animal’s health or life, this simple court action may bother the perpetrator enough to prevent him or her from committing a similar crime in the future. When you file the form, which costs approximately $30 to $50, you will be given a court date. At the hearing, present all your veterinary bills, documentation of any related expenses, and your veterinarian’s signed statement. Unfortunately, animals can still be viewed as property with a price tag, and a small claims court can only recover the “dollar value” of the animal and your expenses.
But you may also be able to file criminal charges. To do so, find out who is responsible for investigating and enforcing the anti-cruelty codes in your town, county, or state, and then provide that person or agency with a concise, factual written statement about the incident, giving dates and approximate times. Collect short, factual written statements from witnesses, and write your own if applicable. File a complaint with a humane officer, the police, or a county or district attorney.
Along with the anti-cruelty statutes, other laws, such as those regarding discharging a gun within city limits and destruction of property, may have been violated.

Do you have an autopsy report from the poisoned dog ? It's good to have documentation as evidence in court.
If i where in your situation i wouldn't let this go, this is animal cruelty. I hate animal cruelty more then anything.

Try to get the RSPCA to investigate this incident since poisoning pets on purpose falls under Animal Cruelty and is illegal.

Do you know why they did it or was there even a reason?
It does make you question how they treat their own dogs when they can so easily poison another animal. It surprises me when I hear stories of someone poisoning another persons pet to find they have pets of their own.

I noticed my neighbor 2 days ago next to my fence and never once did I think they would do the unthinkable. They however did. They threw food in my yard with anti freeze in it. Today I lost my baby. I am very lucky though that I didn't have chickens eating the food otherwise I would have lost my whole flock. I got major at the age of 4 weeks and he fit in my hand. I brought him up to the age of 5 months so for 4 months I was his mom and we loved each other just like a real mom and child do.
If I decide to get another dog it will be a full grown pitbull. that will tear anyone apart if they try to come through my gate or reach over the fence. Major was our second dog in a year that the neighbors had messed with the first one Jack they beat to the point to where he was terrified of people, then they left my gate open and when I came home not only had we been robbed, but the dog was outside running up and down the road. I thought the Catahula was my best choice for a guard dog, companion and for protection of the flock. Major never got the chance to be all of that. Jack is at my husbands now and enjoys it and now has no trust issues since he is away from here. However if I brought him back I am sure it would go back to the snarling at all of us again, and the night terror dreams again. He just was hurt so bad here that we had to let him go to my ex husbands to keep him safe.

i remember when i was young,a friend of ours gave us an alsation puppy,it stayed with us for about a year, named it sheeba, was a long haired alsation, beautiful she was,so cute, anywayz one day i returned from school, sheeba had gone,i asked my mum where she was she said she didnt know,i knew she was lying, she was never a lover of animals,it just that me and my bros and sisters insisted on having her that she eventually let in...anyway later i found out my uncle conspired with my mum and they took the alsation in the car and drove somewhere far and left her
i just hoped someone would find her and take her in,i was too young to do anything, all i could do was cry.

It also depends on culture, Pindo
Here in Copenhagen a lot of people from other countries are absolutely terrified of dogs, Mostly it's people from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran etc, which most likely don't have the same pet culture where they come from.
I've seen it many times, Some of them starts running like crazy when they see a dog
