Quote:And lastly, from a revenue standpoint, it's not profitable at all.
If it wasnt profitable, you could have knocked down the commissions on the referral clicks from 20% to 10% to be in line with offers. You could've charged the same price to advertisers who were already willing to pay that price and paid out less while starting to turn a profit. You are bound to have the exact same issue all over again boosting commissions on referral offers to 20%. As you state, you will most likely push this back down to 15% (which i predict will happen within a few months). Wait a year and I'm sure this rate will be right back down to 10%, because hey, if you weren't making any profit offering 20% commissions on referral clicks clicks, how will you when offering 20% on offers....
Quote: the PTC side of our business has been on a downward slide for some time now
I certainly cant speak for the members from around the world (i have heard that ads for some other countries have been few and far between), but here in the U.S. we have been getting a plethora of ads to click for about the last year and a half now. Some wonderful advertiser has been paying to promote page views with his half cent ads. These campaigns dry up every now and then for a few weeks but then come roaring back. I know this has been my favorite part of this site, and I even made referrals of some family and friends because of it. if you can convince this advertiser to offer the same campaigns through the offers category (perhaps as part of the windows explorer option), then I will still be a happy user. If not, you will lose me and I have no doubt my referrals forever (as i personally know all of them and had at least one mention to me during that poll you had a few months back that they'll stop using this site without the ads).
Quote:The negative side of things is a bit more extreme. This caused us to lose our Paypal account (or so they claim)
a certain other bux site also displays those half cent ads that i mentioned. They also have a very well earned negative reputation (quite the opposite of clixsense), but they still have paypal. I have heard it is because they don't have the multi-tiered referral system as clixsense does (they only have one level of referrals). i don't know if this is true or not, but it certainly means it wasn't the PTC factor alone that caused paypal to discontinue services with Clixsense and it certainly wouldv'e been to everyone's advantage for you to find out the real reason. If true, you could have just as easily gotten rid of that multi-tiered system (and i'm sure upwards of 99% of us wouldn't even care) and still maintained paypal for funding and withdrawals.
As I've seen people already posting here and also before when you had a poll dedicated to asking whether people would be willing to get rid of PTC, a lot of people will simply stop using this site because of this decision. Now if you can convince the PTC advertisers to advertise over the offers sections, then hey, all is well and I'll still be here every day. Instead of clicking on cats, I'll just be using the websites explorer or something of that nature. Otherwise, it's a shame it has to end like this...
